Monfils vs. Davydenko

Well, we practically have every third round match in a poll, why not this one. Gael should win, he and Arthurs have the best serving stats of everyone still in the tourney and he has better groundstrokes than Guccione, who gave Davy fits.

This will go down as the real final.

Davydenko should clinch it

The way these courts with these balls are playing, Nickie has a very good chance.

Davydenko should take this, he is beter than monfils in most departments, the court is playing slow and this should be enough for davydenko.

surely davydenko cant win another match on grass

It would be very interesting to watch... two completely different personalities on the grass court. I think Davy should go through.

Like his "brother" James Blake, Monfils is a brain dead idiot and could collaspe at any point tommorrow.

No need to make a connection like that.

i hope Gael wins it. I'm not saying he's going to, just that I would be happy if he did. I don't like davydenko much.

7-6(7), 7-6(4), 6-2

I've voted Monfils in 5 but maybe it's only my wishful thinking.

Davydenko in five but wouldn't be surprised if he lost.

Going to be generous to Davy and say Monfils in four - don't see the Russian doing better given how he just scraped through his last match against poorer opposition.

I voted for Davydenko in 5.

If Kolya wins another round here then Monfils should retire, Kolya sucks almost as much as last year on grass but his opponenets haven't been up to much and Guccione struggled to accept that he hadn't won the match in straights which is why Kolya was able to win that match.

Nikolay 7-5 6-2 6-4

He keeps saying it's by far his least favourite surface, he feels so uncomfortable on it, etc.
(He said after the match against Vliegen he feels in Wimbledon like a kid who is forced to eat his spinach.)

Monfils already had wins on the surface though and was in Queens SF last year I think.

Davydenko only ever won a single match on grass in his whole career prior to this year if I remember correctly and had a record overall like 1-11 or 1-12.

Kolya

Why not? I'd say Kolya.

This is a very good draw for Davydenko. He's going to have a good hardcourt season.
Very good grass season for both Safin and Davydenko. They will be good this summer.

I see Davy doing a Nadal...Has a struggle in his second round against a pure grasscourter, and has because of that match adopted to grasscourt play....I see him winning this one, and after that reaching the quarters even...maybe he might go even further, but I wouldnt bet him past Hewitt or Baggy.

Especially since Davy is now almost 1-0 in sets vs Monfils.

god davey is up 6-3, 7-5, 3-0 on gael before the rain.

Time for him to pack his bags and get ready for the Hard Courts.

Monfils was one break in the 2nd and did 3DF (on the first one, he missed the 2nd serve by 2 yards) and fell after the serve to save the break point.

Davy played quite well in the first set. Otherwise, awful match from both.

davy is playing well enough to beat this head-case. Maybe he'll recover after this rain-delay, but for his sake he better hope it's a long one.

Davydenko is a true top 5 player. He doesn't have the mental toughness of Federer, but his game on clay and hard isn't far behind.

Davy is playing better and better each match. As the courts get chewed up, this will work to his advantage, also. The match v. Baggy will be interesting.

There already was a longer delay on that court after the first rain break because they couldn't get it dry enough to play.

Edit: there was indeed a problem with the court. They were about to move to another court when the next shower started.
