Roddick Vs Phm

Who will win?

I have a sneaky feeling for Phm, already dealt with two big servers in radek and ljubo and proved his baseline/positioning/footing/knowledge qaulities (on grass) against ferrer. Has the boosting confidence of already beating A-ROD in there one and only meeting on a hardcourt.

I think its time for the real PHM to stand up

Roddick played like utter crap in that match in Montreal, and even at that, he choked it big time! Roddick in straights. PHM beat a bunch of players who don't understand the grass courts and Stepanek, who is decent on grass, but he's got the Hingis curse on him.

A-ROD

This time it´s grass with quite confident Roddick on it, so...
:scared:

Lets hope for the best, but I think Andy will win 3-0, maybe 3-1.

Allez PHM

PHM is good, but he really stands little chance against Roddick on grass.

I remember the montreal match. PHM Played some amazing tennis. Roddick is beatable player on grass.( I was barely impressed with roddick on grass so far.) I'll be rooting for PHM.
I think Andy will sneak out in four sets.

Paulo has a big shot here, but the moment could easily overwhelm him.

PHM will be lucky to take a set but hopefully he will. :)

A PHM win wouldn't be as surprising as many are saying here. Roddick hasn't really been tested yet, and if Paulo can get his serve back, which he has already proved he can, then Roddick is in for a tough match.

I heard for this new record of Roddick´s...17 straight tiebreaks. Already because of that PHM has almost no chance

But who needs tiebreaks...
PHM def. Roddick: 6-3 6-7(3) 6-4 7-5.

Lets hope Andy leaves his serve in Texas. :smoke:

Whichever one you don't bet on.

Andy Roddick should win this one in 3 sets. Paul-Henri Mathieu is a clay court specialist. He loves clay evident of the fact he made Nadal work for 5 hours just to beat him at the French Open. Paul-Henri Mathieu is a defensive type player with a big heavy topspin forehand and can play rallies forever but his game is not suited for grass and this is his worse surface. Roddick will not get broken, this is a lock.

6-3, 6-4, 6-3

Mathieu is a clay courter. He has no chance against a grass court specialist like Roddick. Roddick loves fast hard courts/grass while Mathieu loves clay/slow hard courts.

but apparently his result at wimby is better than at RG

From seeing him the last couple of weeks on grass, he is quite comfortable on this surface also.

Remember, the guys are playing baseline tennis most often now...grass is just like your average hard court these days.

I see Mathieu choking here , ok he has beaten Ljubicic , but who is afraid of bald guy ?? Everyones now that he sucks and everyone can pull out a win - ask Mahut , even when PHM will be in winning position which I doubt he will give Andy too many chances to come back, It will be 4th round playing against no.3 and GS champion , QF of Wimbledon on the line = too much for Paulo to handle

Where are St. Petersburg and Lion played (2002 titles)?

PHM is one good allrounder ;) The strongest on indoor hard courts and clay...and forehand can be flat too, not to mension the backhand.

PHM will struggle to get chances in this match especially as his best chance is in TB's where Roddick has been godlike lately. However, a set is certainly not beyond him if he hits form and I hope it is high quality tennis.

I personaly don't like roddick much, he is one of those guys that annoys the hell out of me and his fellow players when he pumps himself up. I like players like Sharapova, Federer etc. who pump up to themselves, they dont have to look at the other players face and yell I JUST OWNED YOUUUUUUU! YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!! which is why I hate/despise Serena williams.

Anyways, Roddick can actualy become a likeable guy when he is having a crappy streak, because he has to fight to get his wins and he loses some matches so he seems more humble and he is funny in the interviews and I like him then.

Having said that, I am a realist and when Roddick is ON, he cannot be beat on grass unless he plays against Federer. as simple as that, Andy doesnt havea a lot of skill but he has a lot of power and when he is on, that power finds its way inside the court and almost nobody can deal with that. even when he is having crappy games, his serve still pulls him out of the gutter.

So I expect Andy to win this, possibly even in straight sets but more realisticaly, he drops one set.

He won't be stoped until Federer in the semifinals.

unless of course Andy chokes but I doubt it, he has too much momentum going for him right now. This guy has been playing great tennis, you could make an arguement that if Federer wasnt around, Andy would have won last years wimbledon, last years US Open, this years australian.

This match won't start till Sunday. The more it drags on like this, the bigger Roddick's mental edge over Mathieu grows.

If this match is ever played, Andy in 3 easy sets if PHM has already lost it due to rain delays or Andy in 4 if PHM comes out to play.
