Good comeback after losing that first set like that. First fourth round at Wimbledon. :)

Haaaaaas :bigclap:
I'm thrilled he's having such a successful comeback. Fourth round of Wimby for the first time, great effort. And a potential match against Federer is even better.

Dmitry was simply outstanding in that first set. One winner after another and no unforced errors. Haas wasn't playing that bad. He just had no chance. Haas finally got in the match, when he managed to kill off those two bps which the russian had at the beginning of the 2nd set. From that point on, Tursunov started to hit more UEs and Haas raised his game a little bit. Haas also hit quite a lot of drop shots.
At the end of the match, there was a (wrong) call against Tursunov (Haas' passing shot was called in, but was probably out) which totally got to him. Tursunov still got to Deuce, but Haas took the 3rd bp in that game and then served it out.

4th round of either Federer/Haas, more than likely, or Safin/Haas. Should be a good one. Tommy plays better when he talks to himself. He should do it more often.

Congrats, Tommy! The better player has won today.
This match is a perfect illustration of why Tursunov will never achieve anything really big in tennis. In the first set he played the best tennis in his life, Mitya almost killed Haas with his forehand, was hitting winners from anywhere. But then :silly: :silly: :silly: ... not for long period of match but it was enough for Tommy to come back. In the middle of the second set it became clear Haas would win. He is much more versatile player than Tursunov, it's well-known fact. This alone gave Tommy huge advantage. But why Tursunov stopped going for his shots was beyond my understanding, oh, and his returns were just :tape:

It's the most disappointing and depressive loss of Mitya I've ever seen. Well, at least he is still good in blogging...

P.S.
Tommy reaching that drop-shot in the third set...
P.P.S.
Federer vs Haas should be a great match :)

 And I am surprised that he got no warning. He used all kinds of known swear words (especially the f and s words).

Well I feel bad for Haas.
If he was on the other side of the draw, he could have easily made the semis.

Good win from Haas, hopefully he can give Federer a little scare.

well done to Haas.

Roger sure has his work cut out for him. Should he get past Safin he will have Haas to contend with.

Both players could potentially challenge Federer, will need luck and awesome form to have a chance of winning though.

Haas played a dumb match and was lucky to get through. He was trading ball bashing tennis with Tursunov and no wonder this match was so close. Of course not many can live with the Dima in the first set but after that it should've been routine, Haas needed to think a little more out there and slow things down.

I will say it again.... if tommy was not coming out of a non-playing time, I would imagine his match against Federer (I assume) to be really competitive.

He has all the tools to bug Fed. And maybe I am overstressing his rustiness, or maybe he has become mentally strong very quickly.

Great match for Tommy, he has nothing to lose now Fed or Safin. I would prefer Safin ;)

Haas is still feeling pain in his muscles due to the fact that he didn't practice enough those past weeks. That's why he needed the pain killers today and couldn't serve the way he wanted to. Nothing to do with his shoulder, though.

A few good little comebacks of Tommy! Tursunov absolutely destroyed him with his big shotmaking in the first set. Tommy didn't have a chance despite he made no unforced error (or only one) the whole first set. This was because Tursunov was almost nothing else than (serve) winners (--> post #11). Tommy showed some good patience in the 2nd set. Tursunov had break points but Tommy saved them and waited for his own chance to convert, which he did. That was great, because Tursunov was about to take the match in his hands. Of course the third set tiebreak was important, too. Overall, a good performance by Tommy.

:yeah: Finally 4th round at Wimbledon.
right, it took a few years

I wasn't at the match but I was just outside the court when it finished, Dima was absolutely furious. Most players wait for an escort back to the locker room, he stormed out, and barged his way through the crowd :o

Good to see Tommy back after the injury :yeah:

Was a bit worried when he had to call the trainer but good it wasn't the shoulder.

Congrats!

Roger and Tommy played two times in Halle against each other. In 2005 Roger won in 2 sets and last year he had his chances to close it out in 2 as well but couldn't use his breakpoints in the 2nd set. He atmitted afterwards that he went into the tiebreak a bit disappointed and unconcentrated about his wasted chances. But he was back in full control for the third.

I agree with you that Haas can bug Roger - same goes for Kiefer by the way -, but I don't think it can happen consistently on grass in a best of 5 match.
