Awesome match, some superb rallies, it's what we need on centre court every day :wavey:

My prediction of Fed-blake for qf, still a possibility.

Gonzo you clown. Those faulty 2 buck slice backhands when you were in front and had match points. I watched like 5 games at the end and he hit like one topspin backhand, yeah real attacking tennis.

Comeback from 2:5 (0-30) in the 5th set against Gonzo? Great achievement by Tipsa.
He is 8-2 in the 5-setters now.

Tipsy dictated play in the last games of the match. Not easy to do against Gonzo so well done Janko.

That underspin backhand at match point, what a choke! Every woman in the WTA can make that shot.
At match point, that's an insane choke.

I'm still cracking up about Darren Cahill's reaction to Gonzo's 2nd between-the-legs shot....he made it sound like Gonzo had committed some evil atrocity. "Noooo! Noooo!" That was a good match. Had never seen Tipsarevic play before, 3 5-set matches in a row and he's still looking fresh.

Well he had a point; you just don't go for a shot like that, twice, at critical moments in a decider set.

Such shifts of momentum in the fifth set.

Gonzo couldn't do much with his backhand, especially on his match point. He kept hitting them cross-court, cross-court, cross-court...

Entertaining fifth set. :)

Great win Janko, fantastic fighting spirit.

Gonzo, another tough loss, but he has only himself to blame for this. Decided to play it safe on those important points instead of attacking and he paid the price. Lack of confidence will do that to you.

although sometimes he can hit some good bh dtls winners

Gonzo has extremely poor technique on his topspin backhand. I have no idea how they were going in at the AO, thers basically no foot work when he goes for the down the line backhand and he looks like hes standing upright when he hits it.

High level of tennis. Gonzo didn't really choke the match away, he could've played better in the big moments of course but he didn't play a noticable amount worse than he was playing at other times in the match.

Tipsy reminds me of Hrbaty in the way he fights.

He really has a good complete game. I actually like him better than Djokovic.
It's nice to see someone with studs and tattoos on their body playing tennis.
Quite refreshing actually.

It was an entertaining match, but I'm suprised (more disappointed, actually)that Gonzo lost this from 5-2 up in the 5th.

Il buono:
A monumental victory arising from a superb tennis match. Janko reaches R4 of a GS for the first time in his career. Gonzo showed a touch of class at the end by joining Janko to walk off the court. Serbia maintains her 100% record at this years Wimbledonović.

Il brutto:
Served horribly in the last set. Despite great anticipation, volleying was not great. I hope it doesn't discourage him though because that's the way to play.

Il cattivo:
I wonder where he'd be now had the Serb Tennis Federation hired a coach for him when he was the world number 2 junior.

congrats to Rino Gattuso and his backers :yeah: nice fight, he's a great player

Gonzo has lost all his efectiveness. He slices too much and he no longer attempts to hit winners as he used to do before. In a way he has neutralised himself.

Yeah, his forehand looked really weak in that last set. He hit one good one on the run and that was it. He should spend the next month working on his topspin backhand.

Tipsarevic definitely deserved to win the match :yeah:. Solid throughout, and was always on the offensive, with brilliant backhands DTL :D And as mentioned, Gonzo never really got his forehand into play or dominated rallies the way Tipsy did, and his serve was the only thing keeping him in the match many times, particularly in the fourth set.

Congrats on the first win over a top 10 player :woohoo:

Gonzo deserved to win this. What is with Fena going between the legs like that when he had time to run around it (subsequently getting broken)?

that match was even more exciting than Jankovic-Safarova. The way Tipsarevic did that AMAZING comeback in the 5th set (and it wasn't so much as Gonzo choked as it was Tipsarevic went for winners. The reason Gonzo got 5-2 was because he brought Tipsarevic to the net and then hit passing shots.) was a miracle. Saving match point was stunning, the way Tipsarevic had played in the set up to that point. In fact, Tipsarevic became the first player since 1974 (I think it was Jan Kodes) to win 3 straight 5-setters at Wimbledon. Serbia will have another huge celebration after Wimbledon if Djokovic and Ivanovic make noise.

I prefered to stayed away from here yesterday because I had imaging what type of comments were here. It's was really a choke from Gonzo, but reading some comments from my compatriots really surprised me  I really hope that we don't become like other supporters from another country well known here that always bash their players when they lose

I don't think Gonzo will last too long in the top ten , if he can't win more of the crunch games.
Perhaps be out by happy new year:sad:.
