Arguments on Court 18 (Melo/Sa vs Bennetau/Mahut)

Last match on Court 18: Brazilian team complains beacuse Frenchies are said to go out of the court too often.

So, when Melo and Sa got broken (2-3 5th set), Melo calls the trainer in order to waiste time.

French team would no more win a single game.

After a volley winner Sa mocked Mahut and at change court got his shoulder hit by Benneteau.

Referee entered the court and tried to make the argument end.

GSM Melo/Sa: service winner. But Benneteau shouts and says the ball was out (in fact he's right) and there's another argument with chair umpire and at the end with the Brazilians...

Melo and Sa are known for this kind of things. They had a problem in Estoril too, I heard.

Yes, I saw that on Italian tv (SKY ITALIA)... ;)

But why would Sky Italia show doubles? Do they have more than one feed for Wimbledon?

I guess they maybe showed it because at this time hardly anything else was going on on the showcourts.

What? Sky Sports Italia has 6 Wimbledon feeds? Enviable!
Do they broadcast in 4:3 or 16:9?

4:3

16:9 only SkySport3

They choose different courts every day: yesterday Court18 wasn't available but Court3 was. Anyway there are 6 channels.

Too bad they have rights only for Wimbledon and AMS. For the other GS tournaments EuroSport has...

Good job Sa/Mello. The french teams behavior was embarrasing. Benneteau getting into the face of a line judge and arguging with the umpire the whole damn 5th set and Ma shoved one of the Brazilian guys then after the match Mahut kept bitching about something and went over to the Brazilians seats and tried to start another fight.

It's Melo (just one L). It's not that one who lost a lot of MPs against Murray in Newport last year, it's another guy.

Written by Marcelo Melo and posted on Fernando Meligeni's blog:

They were leading 3-2 in the fifth set with a break, I called for medical timeout because I was cramping. After the attendance, we came back to play, as it was already 9:15 PM.

We broke serve and then held, at the change of ends Benneteau bumped me and said to me "you son of a b****, are you going to call for a doctor again???". I couldn't believe it, I hadn't done anything out of the ordinary, so that is when the confusion started - insults from both sides and yells until the umpire set us apart.

We came back to play, broke serve again and won the match, to make things worse, with a doubtful ace by Sá. When I was leaving the court I saw Mahut waiting for me to pick a fight, I avoided him by leaving through the other side of the court. When I got to the locker room, he came up to me, insulting me and trying to pick a fight. I said to him, "Why are you still talking to me, don't waste your time, f*** off."

In the end, I celebrated a lot with André in the locker room, it was a great win over two very good players. Mentally, we were perfect, and it was one of the most exciting matches of the day, for sure.

That was very funny :D

Melo didn't mention Sa's bad attitude towards Mahut which was before Benneteau's intemperances...

You see I was telling the truth ;)

Yeah, I'd like to read the other side of this story. :pIt's not very different, Bennet says Mahut took a very short toilet break at 3-2 and when he came back to the court, then Melo decided to call for the trainer and took a veeeery long medical time-out. B./M. were pissed because they thought the other guys just wanted to delay the game after having lost their serve.
Morrissey came to talk with the Brazilians and Bennet admits he bumped Melo in front of Morrissey. You already know the rest.
Mahut told the Brazilians at the end: "You might have won that match, but that's not how you're going to be champions", lol.

I'm not too surprised, it's not the first time Bennet gets involved in this kind of stories - always as the victim, of course.
