Hello guys, this is the second thread im starting, hope yous like it. Today, the reason why I want to start this thread is because I quite like Verdasco's game, especially his forehand :) They've played before and Roddick won. Roddick seems hella confident again with that serve and will very likely play Federer. But Verdasco may have a chance, so just wondering what you guys think? :)

Verdasco doesn't have chance , even if he push hard he will choke in the end , in the UsOpen 2006 he was break up in fith set and lost losing serve twice.

I go for Andy in straights I am not afraid of Verdasco game on grass against Andy

Vedrdasco's always dangerous but not consistent enough. One, maybe two sets will go to a tie-break but Roddick will close it out in four.

Andy in 3, Verdasco has alot of talent but makes way too many errors.

Verdasco can Fire many jaw dropping winners but for every winner he makes at least one UE

While the odds I think are against Verdasco, its in entirely impossible. Hes got talent if he can put it all together.

It´s easy. Verdasco has the serve to hold confortably most of the times, he can return Andy´s serve only second to Federer and Murray (not saying he´s the 3rd best returner in tour, just he has proved to me he reads Roddick´s serve with ease) and has the shots to dismantle Roddick from the baseline but he will lose again bc he´s Santa Claus´ favourite grandson

If Bad Andy shows up with the pussy forehand and stands around waiting for Verdasco to crap out, he'll win in 4 or 5.

If Good Andy shows up and plays aggressively and brings out the powerful forehand he used to have, he'll win in 3. :D

Andrew in 4. Only because his serve has been in the 70's for a little over a week now.

Fernando to get a set if his head is in it because Andy is playing kind of shitty.

Verdasco will always have a shitty game or two in each set that Roddick will take advantage of.

now it's up to Fernando to prove me wrong :scared:

Verdasco in 4, first "serious" opponent Roddick meets, and he can only beat clowns with his current game.

Roddick in 3. Four if Verdasco can actually keep his head in order for an entire set.

What are you smoking, theres so such thing as a 'good' andy with a forehand, haha

Verdasco can act like the biggest clown out of allHe can, but it looks like he's more comfortable on grass now than other surfaces.

If he's good enough to beat nalbandian in straights surely he's good enough to beat current Roddick.
Some players can drive him crazy, but Roddicks basic game with his weak shots should be perfect for Verdasco to hit forehand winners all day, and like you've mentioned - return of serve isn't going to be a problem.

I think Andy will have learnt from today and stop f*****ting around. He beat Verdasco easily on hard courts at Davis Cup - Fernando has good shots but won't pull it out on grass - Andy in 3!

There´s no question in my mind if he´s good enough, but that doesn´t mean he will, specially in his case

Verdasco can go nuts even against an injured player leading 2 sets to love (Soderling, Paris 05), Just count the errors he will make on Friday on routine fh´s/bh´s when being in control of the point, I´ll bet they will be more than 10 per set, that´s sick. And concerning his returns, after having watched loads of games from him during years I still don´t know on what it depends, sometimes he can return serves with terrible ease and sometimes he looks he doesn´t have a clue even in the same set of a match. Funny guy this lad Verdasco

Roddick in four.
but he has to show with his A game, 'cause Nando is be pretty dangerous

Come on Andy :D

With the Roddick serve the way it is, I doubt Verdasco will have very much of chance because he won't get looks at Roddick's serve and Roddick will just grind and grind and grind like he has been and get a break of Verdasco serve. I doubt we will see an aggressive Andy, he will play the same way he did in the DC tie, very passive on the return until a short ball is given and then he will attack.

Vamoooos Nando!

Now is your time.

Nando in 4.

I can see some tiebreaks but andy winning eventually. I think Verdasco's serve will give him some free points too. And I think he is going to trouble andy on the bh side.

He's been averaging about one ace a service game, which is great but not off the wall. I think Verdasco's serve might give him a few tricky scares.

Verdasco's serve along with Andy's occasional "lapses" should win him a set, but that's about it. Andy in 4.

We almost had a classic Nando choke today and I expect him to keep that form up, maybe even take it to the next level, against Andy.

I think this match is very dangerous for Roddick, head-to-head shows Verdasco can trouble him when Verdasco is in form, which is the case now. When Roddick beat Verdasco in the Davis Cup Verdasco was still struggling, he is much better right now.

Verdasco makes this tight but chokes his real oppurtunities and loses in three I guess.

Roddick always seems to somehow annoyingly scrape through the tight matches, so probably him in 4.

Verdasco was superb today, one of the best displays I've seen this week.

He was hitting his forehand so well, must've been 20+ winners in the 2 sets I watched.

Very dangerous match for Andy.

Roddick in straights.

I'm beginning to like Verdasco more and more now, but these two seem to be drawn so close together every single time. Boo.

I expect Verdasco to go up a set and a break. Then he will start his usual major blow.

Funny guy this Verdasco

Verdasco would seem to be the type of player to beat Roddick with his lefty forehand, but now Roddick's backhand is better than his forehand. Nevertheless Roddick needs to pick up his play or he will be beaten even if Verdasco plays like a clown. Ultimately, Roddick will probably do just enough to win.

I will be shocked if Verdasco wins this.

Does he have the talent to win if he plays a smart match- imo yes.

Does he have the mental ability to play a smart match and not go for too much or have other brain farts on the big stage like this - imo no.

Roddick in 4 or 5....Verdasco will definitely give him a lot of trouble - I think he's been unlucky in some of the matches he has lost against Roddick.

Roddick will lead 7-6 7-6 5-0 *40-00, He'll serve strong, everyone will think it is an ace, Roddick too  but Verdasco will challenge, the ball was out and Roddick will have to play the point again, will lose the next 7 games of the match. :p

Verdasco wins 6-7 6-7 7-5 6-1 6-3 :rolls: I know I know, too much TV

Nah, Roddick wins in 3 :)

i think he CAN win. does this make me an idiot?

unlike on a slow hc, verdasco will be able to finish points faster and thus commit less stupid mistakes. one killer shot may be enough to beat the laterally challenged roddick movement on this surface, so his shot selection wont be as costly perhaps.

scratch that. this surface is slow according to djokovic.

I'm excited for this match up. I'm very fond of Verdasco's game and I think he can pull off the upset. Roddick has played pretty poor tennis all year, but I will grant him the mental tenacity it's taken for him to win so many matches and lose against mostly only elite opposition.

Players like Monfils, Murray, and Verdasco drive Roddick batty. On hardcourt, I'd give the advantage to Roddick unless Verdasco is having an on day. On clay, adv. to Verdasco. Grass? It's their respective best surface, so it should be entertaining. Either way, it'll go four or five sets. I hope Verdaso can grind it out in three or four though.

Hopefully Verdasco can teach Roddick on how to hit a forehand.

Verdasco can teach numerous players on tour forehand and this includes some of the top 10 players. Sebastien Grosjean can teach every single player on tour including Roger Federer how to hit forehands.

Verdasco will play well in patches and show glimpses of his talent, even then he will still lose and the question is will he be up 40-0 and lose serve on 6 successive errors or not?

GOOD POINT LOL

Well there was a thread started initially about the frustrations of Verdasco. I mean if you put Roddick and Verdasco and evaluated their games, the only things that Roddick comes out in front are the serve and the key one mentally.

funny that I not going to rate Verdasco making the surprise here
he just disappoints too many often times when you expect something from him to win a surprise match
