Hamburg

Okay REALLY TOUGH DRAW!!

1st match: Grosjean (8) vs Safin

then second match probably Davydenko, who is playing very well lately.. Of course Seb can beat him, but if he has such a hard time beating Ferrer then I dunno..

Conan the Librarian

Conan fears a first round exit for Seba.

Conan's other favourite, Henman, has drawn Hewitt so Conan's interest in Hamburg could be very shortlived!

Ooo nice! Maybe they've got one of only Seb as well :) On which channel?
BTW Lizan, can you receive the German tv channel NDR? They will show Hamburg from tomorrow.

Lizan
05-09-2004, 01:14 PM
OMGG no   We only receive those boring ones.. OMG I wanna see mentennis! It's such a long time ago..

The commercial was on eurosport, do u actually receive that?? Coz I heard in some parts in Holland they dont, in Brabant they don't for some reason..

wilma
05-09-2004, 01:20 PM
Oh I know. I was talking to a friend of mine who lives in Brabant. We both enjoy watching ice hockey and I told her that it's on Eurosport now and again, and she told me they didn't receive it there.
And I know what you mean about men's tennis: it's only WTA on Eurosport for some weird reason only known to themselves. I hope the Germans will show Seb's match against Safin tomorrow or Tuesday. And NDR is one of the boring channels, btw. lol. It's not a commercial channel. But in some parts of Holland they only get WDR; here in the north it's NDR.

Lizan
05-09-2004, 01:33 PM
Oh yeah I get WDR (limburg)! So I can see it, okay will look in the guide!!
Yeah I think I know why they show so much womentennis and no menstennis.. there was something with the rights to air, and also women tennis is cheaper to air or something.. I dunno for sure though..

Seb was leading 3/0 in the first set, then 5/1 in the tie break !!!!! STUPIDDD

I saw that many girls of seb official's website are here ( my pseudo is MArinek on it ; ))
Well, it's very hard to see seb lose at the 1st round...however he didn't play so bad! :'(
I hope he'll be ready for Roland Garros, because i dont want to see him lose there as the past year ( it was one of the horryblest match I've never assisted...)

Rest assured, Conan, I mean the first. You know, it's not the first time that Seb is in a winning position only to let the match slip out of his hands! I have been offering for the job for a while now, but so far he hasn't contacted me, which isn't wise of him at all.

Seb is getting dragged down to Clement's level!!

Should Seb replace Tulasne?

Marine
05-11-2004, 09:23 PM
Oh no, I think Tulasne is a good coach. And I don't think it's a problem of coaching... anyway Seb is not the guy, able to play a lot, to work hardly all the year without any goal than to success in his job. Maybe it's scaring what I'm saying, but it's true. Seb is a guy who needs having a family life !
Because of that, he never won't be the best. I'd add...thanks to that, he's human and sweet. Not a machine !

But, there's a wide margin between being the best and losing in first/second round all the time, isn't there? He could at least get to QF more regularly  He's got the talent!

Seb is a great question... I think we'll be never ansewer about him....It's good to take care about his family, but i think there is a moment where he must concentrated only on his tennis....he has yet 26 (nearly :D) years old, and his tennis carreer still won't be very long....So during a moment i thinked that seb hadn't any motivation, but he say the contrary, I hope he say right

thank for your welcome.
It looks like a great forum forum ; )
I saw the new interview of seb on his website, it's reassuring ( but seb is always confident before Roland Garros...:p). I hope a good preparation will be enougth to do a good tournament! ;)

Lizan
05-13-2004, 09:06 PM
yeah it's about time that he's going to win something, don't you think?? What was his last tournament he won, wasn't it the Paris Masters? Or maybe the one in St Petersburg, what's that?? like ages ago??!!!!!!??!

It's depressing!

sphaerena
05-14-2004, 05:19 AM
It was the one in St petersburg in october 2003...... in fact, it's a long lon time ago :p
I don't want to be negative, but i'm not sure that only 5 five matches on "terre battue"....

wilma
05-14-2004, 08:39 AM
He doesn't need to win, as long as he reaches sth like QF or SF. The year began so good with a QF at the AO - but since then it's been zero point nothing. He deserves so much better.

Conan agrees with wilma. A return of 3 titles for a player of Seb's ability is not good enough. Conan's suggestion of replacing Tulasne was not a reflection of Tulasne as a coach. However, it is only natural for player/coach relationships to go stale after a few years - after a while the player has heard eveything the coach has to say. Even Agassi replaced Gilbert, who virtually saved his career, after a while. A new coach may bring a new dimension to Seb's game and consequently more success.

wilma for Seb's new coach!!!!

The first thing I'll do, is to teach Seb a killer instinct, something he sorely lacks (bless him) - if that can be learned at all! Tips are welcome :)

But seriously, I think Tulasne is good for Seb - Seb just needs to be more aggressive in his play, more on the offensive, rather than the defensive. They should work on that.
