In the game, participants pick the winners of all main draw matches and are placed in a knock-out system. That means each participant plays a different participant and whoever predicted the winner of most matches correctly, moves on to the next round. The same applies for doubles, but you're in a team format and your scores are combined.
Note:
- In case of a tie, a tie-breaker will decide who moves on to the next round.
New tie-break method: http://www.menstennisforums.com/showpost.php?p=4489037&postcount=1
- In case a player (i.e. the actual ATP Player) retires in a match, this match will be counted as long as one point has been played. If players are replaced by a lucky loser after the start of Tennis Tipping, these matches will be cancelled.
How to Sign-Up:
Just post here that you would like to play. You can only play one tournament per week. Entries will be based on ranking. Everyone can commit. :D

How to send in picks:
Picks can be sent in as soon as the draws are ready. Remember, you pick a winner in every match! Picks should be sent by PM, so that your opponent does not know your picks. Picks should be titled: [TT: Newport, day #]. Picks can be sent in anytime until the beginning of play each day. If you're still in both singles & doubles, you use the same tips for both. For doubles, you still tip the ATP singles matches, not the doubles! No changes can be made after the play has started.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE
If the board goes down as has happened before, send your picks to dc1zkotw@hotmail.com

Alonsofz and Felo with Moodie share the award with PaulHopkins and Superhoops with Norman
Worst pick of the round
Another award for Felo, who takes this for the pick of Amritaj

Wednesday and Thursday's Awards
Player of the round
Alomsofz, with 7/9, and the correct SR1
Loser of the round
JMG and Duncan share the award with just 5/9, although Duncan would lose on SR's between them. LaTenista not sending any picks makes her a contender as well
Unluckiest player of the round
No-one was particularly unlucky in the way that they lost, as there were no retirements or PTS…. No winner for the round
Pick of the round
JMG, Superhoops, Felo, VaiBraisl and JohnnyCanncuk who realised that picked a serve-volley against a baseliner at Newport is a good idea. Zverev gets you the award
Worst pick of the round
Everyone picked Berrer, so scope for a total shared award… but it goes to JMG for picking Peya and Karanusic. An honorable mention to Felo for picking against the world greatest rapper though
Doubles team of the round
Tytta/Deboogle!, for getting 14/18
Tuesday's Awards
Player of the day
Alonsofz and Statboy3 both scored 7…. But Statboy takes the award on SR3
Loser of the day
No contest here…. Step forward Duncan for scoring a world class 2/10
Unluckiest player of the day
LK_22… who lost on PTS. Going into the Boggo/Umdomchoke match, he believed that Umdomchoke winning a set would be enough to put him through… but because of the order of the sets, he picked up no points from this
Pick of the day
JMG and Statboy3 who picked Jenkins
Worst pick of the day
Everyone picked Kiefer…. And that worked well… almost everyone picked Bracciali, and that was just as successful… the award though goes to all who picked Levine, based solely on the thrashing he got
Doubles team of the day
Alonsofz and Felo, who avoided the carnage to score a respectable 12/20
Monday’s Awards
Player of the day
PipgenStinks, who managed to make 9/9 on a day where some players won with 4
Loser of the day
A shared award today, between Tankman, PaulHopkins, SeagullUK and Wojtek, all of whom managed to score a measly 4/9
Unluckiest player of the day
Has to be Manu86, who managed to lose on ranking… Berrer winning the second set on a tie break made it even worse, as it meant they had the same number of correct picks, SR’s and PTS scores the whole way
Pick of the day
PipgenStinks, JMG and Cipa who all picked Karanusic
Worst pick of the day
PaulHopkins, who picked Thiego Alves… on grass… against Wesley Moodie (and still got through)
Play at the Hall of Fame championships ended today, with 2 new champions being crowned to end a week of fantastic tennis tipping
PaulHopkins, the 8th seed from Wales dethroned Forever-Delayed as the singles champion by beating Superhoops, another Welshman in a tough 3 set final. The first 2 sets saw some flawless tennis from both men, neither of whom managed to produce a single unforced error between them. However, PaulHopkins kept his cool in the 3rd set and got the early break to go on and take his maiden ATP title, which produced no end of delight in him. Superhoops was a bit unlucky in the end though, as he was unable to bring his best tennis to the court in the final, with him not being able to bring some of his racquets to the court.
Tytta and Deboogle! had delighted the crowd earlier in the day though by claiming their third doubles title as a pair, and their second ATP title when they finally ended the brave run of the Chilean qualifiers Alonsofz and Felo. They dominated the match, and despite a brief choke from Deboogle! the first time they tried to serve out the match, Tytta got the job done when she served for the match 2 games later. After winning another title, they have been accused of making tennis tipping boring, as nobody else gets a chance to win, but they refuted these allegations, saying it was only their 3rd title
Finally, the Vince Spadea rap-off was poorly attended in the end, with nobody stepping up to the plate to challenge the big man, with the rumour being that they were all too scared to try and take him on. He did delight the crowd with a 3 hour performance though, which was described as being magnificent by all.
Until next time… goodbye…

Saturday’s Commentary
1 of the biggest shocks in the history of the world happened yesterday at Newport, when it was revealed that both the singles finalists were British, proving that they are not all losers you continually lose in round 1 of tournaments, don’t get picked for the Davis Cup and suddenly find themselves playing for Cyprus…
In the first of the semi finals, PaulHopkins finally ended the challenge of FiBeR, who appeared to run out of energy after spending the whole week celebrating his birthday. PaulHopkins managed to overcome the threat that the Argentine posed with an efficient performance, wrapping the match up in straight sets, despite FiBeR battling back and saving the first 4 match points he had to face. After the match, the plucky Brit received congratulations from a most unlikely source, as the champion of Albania, Scarecrows made a shock appearance in Newport to wish him friend good luck in the final, and also avoiding the attack of David Nalbandian, whose new coach actually told him he had to focus on playing some tennis instead of being a hitman for crazy Argentine tennis tippers, and so Paul survived to make the final
In the final he will meet Superhoops, who ended the threat of the German ZachBusner, who still appeared to be smarting about the fact his Dubai title earlier in the year was called a challenger by the event organisers. By the time he had got his head around this, he was already a set down to the Brit, and simply couldn’t recover in time to pull the match around. Superhoops’s brilliant return from injury continues as he makes his second ATP final of the year, and he looks to take his second ATP title after winning the ATP event of the year, Vina Del Mar. However, the questions marks are still being raised about this remarkable turn around in form, as when the drug testers went to test him, he was not found in his room, and with play only a few hours away still has not been found. It could be that he is trying to hide from the drug testers, or a more likely explanation is that his countrymen, the Manic Street Preachers are in town, and he has gone off to watch their concert. Although a flock of sheep were seen wondering around Rhode Island yesterday…
The doubles final will be between the qualifiers Alonsofz and Felo, and the experiences partnership of Tytta and Deboogle!. The Chileans continued their remarkable run in the tournament by taking out the Strangelove/Hotzenplotz doubles team with another impressive performance, coming from a set down to get the win. All was going well in the first set until Felo threw in a terrible game when serving to stay in the set, not managing to get a single serve in the state of Rhode Island, but they recovered to win the second, and came through in the champions tie break to make their maiden ATP title
Tytta and Deboogle! are no strangers to ATP finals, with this being their 3rd of the season after Indian Wells and Miami. They made the final here after beating the Argentine pair of FiBeR and Manu86. FiBeR, who was still complaining about PaulHopkins not giving him his singles match as a late birthday present, and smarting about the fact his Nalbandian plan failed as well was never quite at the races here (Nalbandian was though…), and that was enough to allow the fan favourites into the final. In the end, the match was rather closer than expected, and Manu86 was found to be claiming they lost because they weren’t good enough in the previous round, and claiming that the whole things sux. Tytta though has to be careful, as she has drawn Forever-Delayed in the first round of qualifying for Los Angeles, and if she does win, then the organisers of Newport will be writing a scathing attack on her in the commentary tomorrow… so Tytta, it would be a good idea to tank the LA’s qualies to focus on Newport….
The finals take place on Sunday, after the Vince Spadea rap-off contest, which still has received no entries. The organisers are a little disappointed, if not surprised, because with the great man entering, no-one else would appear to have a chance to beat Vinny Ice.
Friday’s Commentary
After Wednesday’s play was cancelled due to the organisers of the tournament disappearing, the QF’s finally took place today, and it gave Newport one of the best semi final line ups in the history on tennis tipping…. EVER!
Out on court Donald Young the doubles matches took place, and it kicked off with a close battle between FiBeR and Manu86 taking on JeffCandoi and Duncan, but in the end, the cohesion of the Argentines helped them to make it over the line in a champions tie break. The Argentine pair who only joined the tour this year are beginning to be a real threat on the doubles circuit, and have to be one of the favourites to take the title here. However, they now have to face off against the ever popular Tytta and Deboogle! who crushed Superhoops and Aussie_fan to continue their dominance of the American tournaments. It will be a rematch of the Miami semi final earlier in the year which Tytta and Deboogle! won, and they will have the advantage here again, with the home crowd behind them, plus the fact that FiBeR is still going in singles
The other doubles semi final is between the Chilean qualifiers Alonsofz and Felo, and Hotzenplotz and Strangelove, who have made up for the fact that last time they played together, one of them failed to make the court by their maiden semi final as a team. Hotzenplotz has been one of the stars of the season so far, but the Chileans have already won 3 matches as the underdogs, so won’t be bothered by having the day attached to them again. The one thing that could cause them problems is that they aren’t used to the big courts, but Alonsofz and Felo have been on fire throughout this week, and are being tipped by many observers to retain the Olympic doubles title that Chile currently holds
Home interest ended yesterday in the singles, when the LaTenista and PipgenStinks both lost to their British opponents, causing a major shock in the British tennis world, as they couldn’t actually believe that a Brit had won a match, let alone reached the Semi Finals of a tournament. Asked to comment on this, a major British tennis journalist said he was amazed, as he was under the impression the tennis season consisted solely on Queens and Wimbledon. However, he was proven correct when his assumption was that one of them walked over their opponent, as winning a match would be beyond them. LaTenista appeared to be in such shock at PaulHopkins reaching the quarter finals, she didn’t bother to make it to the court, and just let him win
Superhoops ended the run of PipgenStinks with a close three set over him to make his first ATP semi final off the clay, and on his return to the tour after injury. This has prompted some people to suggest that he wasn’t really injured when he missed Wimbledon, instead he was using that as a cover to stock up on performance enhancing drugs. This rumour has been gathering pace in the British media, as it is clearly the only way that a Brit (not called Murray) could actually win a match. He will be drug tested after today’s match if he wins, so it will be interesting to see how he responds when he walks on court today
He will take on ZachBusner who won the battle of the Germans against JMG, who never recovered from a shocker of a first set, where he could hardly get the ball in the court. He managed to take the second to a tie break, but Zach continued his impressive record when it has gotten tight this week and came through nicely, and is looking for his second title of the year after winning the Dubai challenger.
The final semi finalist is FiBeR, the Argentine who has spent the whole week going on about his birthday, which has been given as the reason for him knocking the Wimbledon champion Greatkingrat out of the competition. Knowing that FiBeR was in the doubles semi finals, and would be around another day, the leader of the champions race couldn’t take any more talk about his birthday, and lost as quickly as possible, just so he could get the hell away from FiBeR. FiBeR has been heard in the locker-room to be threatening PaulHopkins, because he didn’t give him a birthday present. He has been heard to say that he wants a present of a spot in his first ATP final, or else he will send David Nalbandian, driving a rally car towards a McDonalds after him
Play begins 2 hours later today on Court Vincent Spadea, as the man himself will be doing a 2 hour concert of his greatest hits. This will be in preparation for the rap-off that will be being held on finals today, and is open to anyone to enter.
Sign up for Vince Spadea rap-off will begin as soon as this commentary has been posted (seriously, this competition will exist, and I will be expecting all competitors in the finals to send their picks for the semi finals and the final in the form of a rap… this competition is also open to anyone else who feels that they can show their skills in the form of rap, rather than tennis tipping)

Wednesday’s Commentary
The Quarter Final line ups were completed today after another thrilling day of action in Rhode Island, which had those playing on the clay in Europe scrambling on ebay to buy cheap tickets to Newport to watch some real tennis
The doubles draw was full of shocks today, as all 3 seeded pairs lost in the opening round, meaning that there will be an unlikely name on the doubles trophy here. The number 1 seeds here, Bavaira100 and Invu2day were perhaps a little bit unlucky with the draw though, as they had to face the world number 2 in singles Gretakingrat, who finally found some form in doubles with his partner Cipa, and managed to sneak through in the end.
The singles world number 1 also had his doubles run cut short when he lost for the second time in 2 days to Aussie_fan. Alansk still appears to be suffering from shock of actually being the world number 1, and hasn’t quite got used to it yet, and it is affecting his performance quite badly. He has been rumoured to be tanking these matches so that someone else can take over the top spot in the rankings, and then he can back to his more comfortable role of chasing the top spot.
American interest in the doubles is now down to just 1 player, as Deboogle! and her Brazilian partner Tytta came through in the opening match on the Spadea court. Back in the USA, they appear to have found the form they had earlier in the year, and with the home crowd backing them all the way have to be the favourites for the title now.
A different story emerged in the singles though, as all 4 remaining seeds reached the quarter finals, as well as two home players in LaTenista and PipgenStinks, who came through in a thrilling late night battle against Hotzenplotz on the Spadea court, and confirmed that he may be a Newport Rhode Island specialist after his semi final last year. Up next for him is Superhoops, who continued his return from injury by coming through in a close 3 set battle with Davis Cup team-mate Invu2day.
Also through is the world number 2 Greatkingrat, who snuck through in a third set tie break against LK_22, in what was a low quality match and full of errors, but the race leader just had enough to get over the line in the end. LK_22 didn’t seem too impressed by the result though, and is rumoured to still be protesting to the organisers about the score of the tie break, claiming that they got it wrong, and he should be the man who is into the quarterfinals. Greatkingrat will now face the birthday boy FiBeR, who came through against the Canadian qualifier Sploush. That match never appeared to be in doubt after Sploush walked on court with a giant birthday cake, and started singing happy birthday to FiBeR midway though the rallies, as he was quite clearly letting him get the win
The big match of the quarter finals is between the two Germans, JMG and ZachBusner. JMG, a former world number 1 hasn’t had the best of times over the last few months, but has been in stunning form so far in the tournament. However, Zach has shown all of his fighting qualities, winning his first match on his ranking, and his second match in a third set tie break. He has moved nicely through the draw so far, and this match is definitely one to keep an eye on

Tuesday's Commentary
Day 1 of the Hall of Fame championships saw some big shocks, as many of the big names failed to make it through to the second round.
The world number 1 Alansk kicked off the tournament by taking the young Aussie, Aussie_fan, but couldn’t cope with the pressure of being the world number 1 after months of trying to get it, and despite a resurgence in the second set, went down quite easily in a third set. At least he has a chance to gain a measure of revenge in the doubles today when they face off again
We also lost the second seed Bavaria100 who was beaten in a thrilling match against her countryman Hotzenplotz. Hotzenplotz has been off the stars of the season so far, and continued the form that has got him on the verge of the world’s top 50.
And in the last match of the day, the defending champion Forever-Delayed was beaten by the returning Superhoops in a classic match that will go down as one of the greatest of all time. In the end, the rest that Superhoops has had over the last few weeks, and the jetlag FD was suffering after winning the Dublin challenger only a day before told, and Superhoops edged it in the third. Speaking to the press afterwards, FD said that this means he can take the Florian Mayer route to the top again, and is seriously thinking of skipping the US Open series in order to play a series of challengers.
The other seed to fall was last years runner up Wojtek, who was beaten in straight sets by birthday boy FiBeR, who was supposedly been running around the locker room demanding that Sploush gives him a present in the form of a spot in the Qf’s. IT wasn’t all good news for FiBeR though, as his best mate on tour Manu86 was beaten in a third set tie break by the 4th seed ZachBusner, and afterwards said that it was his ranking that let him down in the crucial parts of the match.
The most impressive performance came from last years semi finalist PipgenStinks though, who cruised past Gaynor with dropping a single point on serve in the whole match. After forgetting to sign in for doubles earlier in the tournament, he has taken his anger out in the singles draw, and with a history here and his current form must be considered an outside bet for the title. His match with Hotzenplotz will be one to set the VCR’s for.
The Wimbledon champion, Greatkingrat managed to overcome the jetlag of flying in late on Sunday night, and being put on an outside court to sneak past GlennMirnyi, and now faces the qualifier LK_22, who still has failed in an attempt to tank a match in this tournament. Despite the scoreboard operators managing to get the score wrong, he managed to get past the perennial first round loser Marksman to set up what should be a great matchm with the rat having an outside chance of making it to number 1 this week
The doubles begins today, with all 8 first round matches being on court, and perhaps the biggest shock of the tournament has already taken place by virtue of the defending champions JMG and BolarBolari not showing up for their doubles match. Bolar who failed to make his qualifying match again didn’t show up, and so they are replaced by Allez-Alejo and Fergie, who get in as Lucky Losers, despite almost not showing up in qualifying, and take on the birthday boy FiBeR and Manu86
Those with tickets for the Spadea court will get a chance to the see the Miami winners and Indian Wells runners up in action, as Tytta and Deboogle! kick the day off by trying to find some form again, by taking on the plucky Brits Marksman and SeagullUK. Then, it late night action the top seeds Invu2day and Bavaria100 take on Greatkingrat and Cipa. Cipa and the Rat haven’t found the form in doubles that they have in singles, but a win over one of the top teams in the world could be what they need to start to become forces in doubles as well as singles
On court Donald Young there is still a chance to see the world number 1 Alansk, as he teams with Gaynor to take on Superhoops and Aussie_fan. Before that, Forever-Delayed will be back on court trying to build on his doubles final in Dublin when he and Grofica try to reach their first quarter final since Las Vegas, when they take on VaiBrasil and JohnnyCannuck

Monday's Commentary
After a stunning day’s play in the qualifying competition yesterday, the main draw of the most prestigious tournament in the tennis world gets underway today.
However, the qualifying competiton was not without controversy, especially in the doubles where Allez-Alejo was seemingly unaware that his doubles match was due to begin on Saturday, leaving his partner to play the first half of the match by himself. By the time he did make it to the court, they were already a set down, and fell apart in the second set to lose quite tamely. Speaking after the match, Allez-Alejo blamed the schedulers for not making it clear enough that his match was supposed to start on Saturday. However, as most people were busy watching Robert Dee lose another first round match in futures qualifying in Spain, him and Fergie do remain the first lucky losers, in case anyone else decides not to show up.
Much less controversial was the singles event, which saw top seed LK_22 cruise through to the main draw, despite claiming that he tried to tank some of his matches. He was joined in the main draw by SeagullUK, Sploush and Alonsofz who all came through tricky matches, and now will be relishing the chance to play in an ATP event.
Today sees some excellent contests, especially on court Vince Spadea, where this is potential for several upsets, as well as the chance for the home crowd to support some of their favourites.
First up sees current world number 1 Alansk in action, as he takes on Aussie_fan, before this is followed by LaTenista and Deboogle!, both trying to make round 2 infront of a partisan home crowd. Alansk has finally made it back to the number 1 spot after choking more times than Paul-Henri Mathieu has in his career, so the pressure will be on him to show everyone why he is the best player in the world, or whether he is just the number 1 as everyone around him had a shocking Wimbledon.
The evening session sees the 2nd seed Bavaria100 take on the rising star Hotzenplotz in what could be the match of the round, before the defending champion Forever-Delayed takes his first steps towards defending his title against Superhoops, who is returning after an injury which kept him out for a couple of weeks.
Out on court Donald Young there is also a chance for fans to see the former world number 1 and current Wimbledon champion Greatkingrat in action when he takes on the Rafa Nadal fan, GlennMinryi in what should be a thrilling grass court match. Last year’s runner up has also been banished to an outside court, as the Polish 7th seed Wojtek takes on FiBeR. Polish fans should get to that court early, as BlackMamba kicks off the action there against Duncan, and it is expected that the court will be packed for that match

We can team up again if you like, I'm quite optimistic we'd make the main draw cut :)
(I can guarantee all picks will be sent in time, the time zone is much better than last time - and least my picks then were poor enough so them being late didn't have any impact :o - and I won't have too many other commitments)

 I thought I committed for doubles with PigpenStinks.
After checking the thread you did sign up, but in the first week of commitments so it doesn't technically count as commiting to doubles
I can allow you two to be alternates for the doubles qualifying, but I don't know if I can put you in the draw or not, as the team you would be sent into qualifiyng may seen they were in the draw and not bothered to check the thread again.

Entry lists are updated... 12 minutes left for commitments...
Still looking for an assistant manager for the tournament to recieve my picks, and maybe to put up the order of play occassionally if it comes out at a ridiculously late time (like it may do for the qualifying tomorrow)If you still need someone to receive your + your opponent's picks, I'd be able to do it ;)
When the OOP comes out I'll probably be  though

F-D... Do you have to continue using Cyprus nationality???
Unless it is raining in Newport, play should have began 1h 45 mins ago... scoreboard isnt working, so some picks in that timeframe may be accepted.
Just about to go through the picks now, so when I next post you can start asking questions

No picks from Consigliere, BolarBolari and Jerenimo in singles
No picks from Allez-Alejo in doubles... only picks from PipgenStinks for the alternates though, so I'm just going to check with the board as to who gets the spot

I can be assistant here if you want... :)
The time zone means it is probably better that you are the assistant for this tournament, so you get the job... (I may be away for a couple of days next week depending on whether I keep winning in the tennis tournament I'm playing this week, so you may have to be in charge for a day or so)

i was under the distinct impression that the doubles qualies would only count sunday's matches...not Saturday's as well...it says in the tournament schedule that for doubles, the final rd. qualies are Sunday only, not Saturday...

It also says in the schedule that round 1 of the qualies is played on Saturday, and your doubles match would be a round 1 match as well
That is the preliminary schedule, but due to the fact there were only 17 doubles teams that commited, there was only 1 round of qualifying. In all previous cases (as far as I know), the match has been played over both Saturday and Sunday
If the board says that only today's matches count, then I'll go with that, but unless that happens, the doubles will remain over 2 days

Of course.... the advantage of being manager means you get to see what everyone thinks in the close matches, and then can use that to help you...
Or the fact the qualifying results hadn't been put up yet, and I wanted to know the scores in them before I made any picks

It's a local tournament, but the qualifying and the main draw are played at different venues for some reason. The qualifiyng is about 45 mins away, but the main draw is at least a 2 hour drive away and that is when the traffic is good
Just been informed that I have got a walkover today (the other guy was obvious scared of me), so that means I make the main draw... go me!!!!
