Gulbis played quite strong too.seems that Willy was strong at service today: he won 81% of service points (1st & 2nd serve), and he didn't face a BP in the whole match.

Yes, you're right, but so was Gulbis.
They both didn't seem to have difficulties to win their service games. Willy was the better player but couldn't break.
Only the 3rd game of the 2nd set Willy had 3 BP but couldn't break (I panicked a little bit there).
I was pretty relieved he broke Gulbis At 5-5...

It was a close match but fortunately he WON :yeah:

Willy :yippee: And thanks from me also about the reports
:worship: And you are right there is no U.S. coverage. Yet everyone wonders why the U.S. doesn't have the players they used to have  It is no secret :secret: to me.

Exactly I get sick of hearing why our talent pool is so low, duh already. But interesting enough I was watching CNN and across the news scrolling news ticker whose name should come up, Canas of course ;) First it said how Ferrero lost in the first round then it gave the information about Canas and his match. No other info about the event ect it was on to some other useless story about a celebrity giving birth but a start is a start I guess.:wavey:

I only could follow the SB but in the 1st set I was pretty relaxed.
He won his service games easily and broke twice.
In the 2nd and 3rd set he got broken quite fast. Don't know what exactly happened because I couldn't watch it, but Berrer (I don't know him very well so I don't have a clue how he is on grass) seemed to play stronger.

Well, this tournament isn't THAT important
I wish the grass season was over already....

 I feel bad for him. But even if heaven forbid luck runs against him for the rest of the year, hes still beaten the odds and played better in my op then everyone on tour this year. But Martine2 is right, I wish grass season would hurry up and end already.

Hi everybody, Iīm normally just reading but Iīve seen the match yesterday against Berrer and Willy has played really good. Berrer is a real big server and could win his games quite easy in the second set.
The third was quite close until, I think it was at two all but Iīm not sure, when the referee made an overruling. Willy was serving and the ball of Berrer was called out. It was the far line from the referee but nevertheless he overruled and said the ball was in. :fiery: Willy was so upset about that, he discussed with the referee, with the supervisor on the other side (I think he was the suprvisor, definitely somebody official), and absolutely couldnīt calm down.
He also got a warning which made him even more upset and of course he lost his serve afterwards. When Berrer had to serve again Willy had to turn away from the line two times because he just couldnīt concentrate on returning. He even had breakpoints during that serving game - but Berrer served (and played) really good at that time.
I donīt know if he would have won that match without that overruling but he definitely lost it because of that. It was hard to watch him beeing so upset, he gave everything in he match and then this call and you know itīs wrong but you canīt do anything against it. It was a smaller court without a camera, no chance.
But he played really good and should be ready for Wimledon. :)

Thanks a lot for the report!! :yeah: Now at least we know what happened.
Poor Willy  . Such a shame this had to happen to him
I suppose he knew he was right, because he doesn't easily get upset on court and always is polite.

Anyway, I'm so glad to hear he really played well. He played strong against Gulbis too, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed he gets a good draw in Wimbledon :yeah:

Thanks for the info :) That stinks about ruling. My exp watching him is that if hes irritated, which is next to never, its for a good reason. The Miami final is a classic example of it. I'm glad hes playing well. I hope luck turns his way in time for Wimbledon. Good Luck Willy

He was right at that line and saw it bouncing - but couldnīt reach it. So he had a very good reason to be so upset because he definitely knew it was outside. Iīve never seen him reacting like that before.
Hope he has better luck in Wimbledon.

Too bad you always depend from a human judgement, so in case of doubt the rules never are objective.
I can imagine how frustrated he must have felt

Hey hey :haha: don't drool too much...
I've quite a lot of pics, but most of them are "action pics" (after all it's his tennis it's all about no  ) and a lot of older ones from a couple of years ago.
Most of them you've probably seen already.

If I have really hot ones, I promise to post them
