5/6/2004 -- Due to soreness in his left knee, Andy Roddick withdrew today from next week's Tennis Masters Hamburg. Andy has returned home to Florida where he will spend the next few days recovering. He will then begin his preparations for the French Open.

yea, Mani.... that's the problem. All I really want is the third round, so I guess I'm wishing for a little more than you but still, winning 2 matches isn't THAT hard is it? LOL.

I know this isn't his fault, but it just gahhhhh... I keep defending him, saying he really does want to improve, blah blah blah and then things just keep happening to prevent that. Plus it's so frustrating to see such valuable opportunities to add rankings points in a season where he's normally not done well. I really thought this clay season would be different :sad: :sad:

Deb don't get your hopes down, seriously I think this will help him. He gets away from Rome first of all,:fiery:, now he can clear his mind and forget about what went on there, now it's just a question about how his knee is. I think it'll be allright, now he's got more than 14 days before Roland Garros starts. His knee should heal up fine, and he can really practice on the clay. This sort of reminds me of when he crashed and burned at RG 03 and went straight to the grass in London, and look at what happened, he improved a shitload on the grass and was the dominant grass court player alongside Federer. I just hope his knee problems aren't serious and it's just that it's precaution. Had it been serious I think we would have heard more from him or about the situation, so my mind tells me its just some precaution. He'll get pased that 1st round match at RG i guarantee it:rocker2:

You and tangy always come along with the calm reassuring words :) I'm kind of glad I'll be mega-busy starting tomorrow through next Wednesday or so.... and from Sunday afternoon til we arrive home I won't be able to read ANYTHING at all so I think that total break from everything will be really good.

But anyway.... again I hope you are right. He has to do well again on grass - he has a good deal of points to defend what with the Queens title and Wimby SF!
