Bolelli pulled out of Ordina. Seppi I think is in MD for that tournament.

so Seppi changed tournaments this year, hopefully he can defend some of those points
Bolelli first skipped Queens and now Rosmalen. Maybe he'll not play on grass at all this year

Possible, why? I have no idea... I thought Simo could maybe do well (or at leats better than most Italians) on the grass. Maybe he is having the summer off, but Im sure he will be at Wimbledon!

Bolelli is injured, but at 90% he will play Wimbledon.

Seppi v Peya 1st round... he should win (and if he doesnt it would be mjaor bad) but after this he gets Ljubo or Monfils which is almost a certain loss and would also mean bye bye to top 100 for this week. I dont think he has much to defend for the rest of the year though so a couple decent toruneys can bring him back.

Stoppini def. Portas 62 46 97
Galvani def. Nunez 62 62
Lorenzi def. Checa Calvo 63 62
Luzzi def. Rushby 62 26 61
Bracciali def. Mertl 76 61

Sela def. Vico 62 75
Mello def. Cipolla 63 62

Vagnozzi lost so six Italians left.

I expect Bracciali, Galvani and Luzzi have good chances of qualifying still.

Flavio played a poor match, really. Mello overpowered him and had to slice almost every ball, and Mello wasn't struggling with it. Sometimes the slice really works on grass, but usually Mello had all the time in the world.

Cipo is still playing doubles though. The qualies doubles match was postponed yesterday, but he and Economidis get another chance today against the tough Bopanna/Zovko team. But Bopanna lost a match 19-17 in the third yesterday, so hopefully he'll be really tired ;) :p

OK Off again!

So far a good day, easy wins for Galvani, Luzzi and Gabba in the womens. Crugnola is a set and a break up before rain stopped play. Lorenzi is 1 set all with Lammer at the moment. Bracciali and Stoppini still to play.

Luzzi and Crugnola lose in final quali round. Galvani and Bracciali play tomorrow. I feel both have good chance, but we will see how they go. I really hope bracciali qualifies because he is a good grass court player. Probably the best Italian player on grass.

Bracciali so far 2 sets down. He isnt garaunteed an LL spot is he because hes playing like crap?

As for Galvani, he was 61 61 down and hes won the last 2 sets and a break up in the 5th. Amazing from Stefano. Lets hope he can qualify.

Galvani has been broken serving for the match.

Bracciali has all but lost it seems.

Bracciali has now lost in 3 sets. Does anyone know the situation with the LL spots, if there is any etc?

Galvani still going, lets hope he can come back. It will be difficult from here.

Galvani out 7-5 in the last and he had a chance to win :(

Well no Italians qualified. Now we must wait to see if Bracciali or Luzzi have any chance at LL spot.

As you can see, Wimbledon is probably the worst GS for the Italians, especially in the mens draw :(

only Seppi might go to 2nd round

Yep and even that is unsure.

Looked at Seppi's draw, with any belief he can get to 3rd round (although his 2nd round is tough aswell Verdasco or Reynolds)

Anyway my predictions in 1st round

Seppi bt Hrbaty in 4
Garcia Lopez bt Bolelli in 4
Kiefer bt Volandri in 4
Djokovic bt Starace in 3
Del potro bt Sanguinetti in 3

Champion number 1

OK well so far.

Seppi won in easy straights against Hrbaty 76 61 62. Impressive

Sanguinetti lost in 4 to Del Potro, but well he did enough to give a good match here. 36 63 64 64

Bolelli is 1 set each with GGL but also a break up so he is going well so far and surprising me even if I knew he can play on grass.

Volandri is 0-3 40-40... he sucks because of his serve, but he also had quite a few BP chances too so far. If he can tighten his game up its possible, but then I dont think he cares.

Starace to play on CC against Djokovic soon. Nice moment for him so hopefully he gives a good account even if he loses.

Bolelli wins the 3rd set... hes now 2-1 up and even more surprising is that Volandri holds his serve 1-3.

Trevisan into the QF of the boys singles. He just def. Uruza in the TB (which has replaced the 3rd set due to scheduling problems).

Fabbiano went out in round 3 to number 1 Ignatic in the 3rd set.

Trevisan lost in the QF 76 62 against Jones (who he lost to in FO SF) Oh well, it was his 3rd match of the day so veru difficult to win again. He did well on his weakest surface to go to the QF.

Trevisan and Lopez are in the boys doubles semi-finals.
