Quite good draw, and in a TMS!

I really don't think it's a good draw though there are not too many seeded players. he will play with those men who are not seeded players but are good at clay, such as CHELA, MASSU, and MANTILLA. it's somewhat difficult but full of challenging!

LOL @ your new name Andrea! I saw the match. Yeah, Peter, Dasha and Walt were there. He looked absolutely gorgeous as always!    Aah! He did OK. Paradorn shouldn't be that hard opoonent either. Good for the rest of the tourney. He's in great shape physically. Just lost a bit his concentration when serving for the match at 5-2. But got Pescosolido's serve right after losing his. New apparel and racket seemed to work OK.

I was so exciting yesterday night cos I saw the live of marat's match on tv! I had not seen the live of him for a loooooong time!
though it was not a classic match, his performance was not perfect(there are a few more forehand UE, I think), he was distracted at the final two games......I still enjoyed a perfect night! :hearts:
maybe I could watch his match on tv today! the opponent, the thailander, is not very good at playing on clay, so I look forward to his winning! :clap2:

BAH!

I saw the 1st match, he played ok, probably becoz he wasn't stretched too much by his opponent. But he did looked good, did not give his opponent a chance to break his serve . Yesterday, thank god I did not stay up to watch also as the match was delayed by the rain. :o

Sirius21, are you watching starsports? I am hoping that they will show Marat & Paradorn 2nite even though they are on pallacorda because of the Asian coverage, they may focus on this match instead. Let's keep our fingers crossed. ;)

PennyThePenguin
05-06-2004, 09:09 AM
yeah bubble. i've got starsports. hope they show it, though according to the tv guide, the TMS coverage only begins at 6.30pm our time. and it wasn't indicated whether it'd be live. i'm hoping they'll at least repeat it tomorrow morning.

05-06-2004, 11:35 AM
i watched the LAST GAME. shouldn't have gone out for dinner. bah! i'm hoping they'll do a repeat telecast tmr morning. but marat looked really happy at the end of it. first serve percentage was 45%, sucks, i know, but it's quite good for him. 2 aces. 18 UEs... i think 2 DFs. 5/8 break points. which is VERY GOOD for him. can't remember the number of winners. and 57 mins.

junekidd
05-06-2004, 01:14 PM
that's great! thanks sirius21! I have been back home just now and received this good news! hoping he will play with massu better! two matchs on one day is really tough! but I believe he can do it! come on, marat!

merle
05-06-2004, 02:37 PM
Well, it's raining so probably he won't even play against Massu tonight!

Well, it's raining so probably he won't even play against Massu tonight!

honestly, I hate the rain not as much as yesterday cos of that! if they play tomorrow, there is no problem about his physical contion though today he spent such a short time on palying with the Thailander.

junekidd
05-06-2004, 06:52 PM
he lost to massu with 5:7, 4:6......
I am really sad...... and I know I should be satisfied with his winning over srichaphan. I should not expect he to win two tough matchs in one day. but I really want to cry!!! :bigcry:
he looks not very tired, but from his bad serve and UE at net I know he was not in the best shape... maybe next week in hamburg, he could be more lucky...... :awww:

Shadow

I didn't see the match, eurosport says he received treatment during his match with Massu for a lower right leg strain.
I guess it is not serious, because he is playing his doubles match with Mark now, his third match of the day. Poor Marat  this year Rome masters really sucks

Safin in Russian :)

He's never done well in Rome, but seen the fact that pretty much all the seeded players are already out of the tournament, it would have been nice to see him progress.

he never did, but there should always be a first time ;)

I dont know what to make out of the last weeks.... he plays some good matches and then drops. His game is really going up and down from day to day... too unpredictable.

I saw only a part of the match. I think he was too tired. his ankle have injured when he plaied the first round. it's not too serious. and I hope he could rest for days!

From Rome website:

Chile`s Nicolas Massu took down Russia`s Marat Safin 64 64 in a high quality match on the Pallacorda court on Thursday. Massu looked agile under the floodlights, moving his opponent around in long rallies and making fewer unforced errors. Safin committed four double faults in the first set and looked tired despite his comfortable wins in the first two rounds. Massu, seeded eight in Rome, has not made it past a major tournament quarter final this year but played out of his skin on Thursday. He will meet Argentine Mariano Zabaleta in the quarter final.

wrong score. it was 5-7 and 4-6

The waiting all day really gets to players and can affect them in their matches. Luckily center court in Hamburg has a roof ;)
