Nice easy entry for Bogdanovic, and a great chance to defend the QF points from last year.

If he can put together a good run at Queens and Surbiton, then an outside chance of him being seeded as well, which is a great sign

Hope he win this tournament. ! or Santoro, high class tennis. !

I think Newport is set to lose its ATP status in the 2009 changes because it usually has one of, if not the, weakest fields of all ATP events.

yep that's a weak field..but I guess it gives some of the lower ranked guys a chance to get direct entry into an IS..

Only 3 Americans  :tape:

Yeah you'd think the big servers Kendrick, Delic, and Querrey would be the first to enter an American tournament on grass with a weak field. I figured this would have been a great opportunity for Querrey to make a run at a first title.

Lol I've seen some bad Newport fields but this one is woeful, if Ancic isn't back by then

I'm not sure what's up with Amer & Sam but I'm guessing Kendrick is trying to forget the double bagel he got here. :o

Hope Zverev gets in and plays.

The prospect of Bruno Echagaray (MEX) playing on grass sounds a really funny one.

According to Alexander Waske (last week as co-commentator of German television in Halle), Nicolas Kiefer was offered a Wildcard for Newport. He has not yet decided if he accepts.

It's stupid giving Philippoussis a WC when he'll get in anyway.

Murray might request a WC if he skips Wimby.

If any player on the entry list withdraws (or if one of the SE spots are cleared, which they more than likely will be), Philippoussis will get in and the Tournament Director will give his WC to someone else.

 I don't understand Ivo's choice where he'll play this week.

He chooses a very strong clay event in Gstaad instead of this tournament which is on grass, and has a poor field

anyone have any idea of the size of the qualifying draw?International Series qualifying tournaments are the same size as the main draw tournament unless the event has received special permission from the ATP to have a smaller qualifying tournament (Queen's Club, Washington for example).

give a WC to Peter Wessels!

Former winner of this tournament, and finalist last week in Rosmalen, I watched al of his games, and on grass he can win of everybody (except Federer:P)!

Posted June 27, 2007
NICOLAS KIEFER ACCEPTS WILD CARD INTO CAMPBELL’S HALL OF FAME TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

NEWPORT, RI -- The International Tennis Hall of Fame announced today that Germany’s Nicolas Kiefer has accepted a wild card to play in the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships July 9-15. Mark Philippoussis, a wild card in last year’s event, won the singles title.

Nicolas Kiefer has posted a career-high ranking of No. 4 in the world, completing the 2004 season ranked at No. 21 and the 2005 season ranked at No. 23 in the world. In 2006 Kiefer missed the second half of the season with an injury suffered at Roland Garros, however he finished the 2006 season in the Top 50 for the tenth time in his career.

Kiefer has captured six singles titles and three doubles titles in his 11-year career. He reached the 2006 semifinal at the Australian Open (losing to eventual champion Roger Federer) and has made quarterfinal appearances at Wimbledon in 1997, the Australian Open in 1998, and both the Australian Open and US Open in 2000.

Kiefer, an eight-year veteran of Germany’s Davis Cup team whose favorite surfaces are hard courts and grass, returned to tournament play in Halle earlier this month. He is currently competing at Wimbledon and yesterday won his first round match in straight sets.

Played for the Van Alen Cup on the legendary grass courts of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships will feature 32 of the top men in professional tennis. Tickets for the Monday through Friday tennis sessions of the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships can be ordered online at www.tennisfame.com or by calling 866-914-FAME. Tickets for Saturday’s 2007 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and semifinal matches and Sunday’s Championship Finals are sold out. For more information, call 866-914-FAME.

Family Weekend will be held July 7-8 as a kick-off event for the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships, July 9-15. The two-day Family Weekend event will be held each day from 10:00am to 3:00pm and is in conjunction with the Qualifying Tournament of the Campbell’s event. Family Weekend will consist of junior tennis clinics, tennis demonstrations and skills activities, along with off-court activities including tennis trivia and interactive tennis games on the Hall of Fame’s floor to ceiling large screen projector in the museum. Admission for Family Weekend including all activities, tours, and demonstrations has been specially priced at $9 for adults, $5 for children (14 and under) and $23 for a family each day. For more information and to sign up for junior clinics, call 866-914-FAME.

not yet but they have two special exempts and it's unlikely that those places in the draw will be filled (someone who would have to play Quali in Newport would have to play Final in Wimbledon) so Dick Norman is as good as in the main draw
