I think the draw is good for Guillermo. Barring any hitches.... (Cross my fingers, arms, legs....everything) He should see Gasquet in R3 and Gonzalez R16, Davydenko (or Chela/Nalbandian) in Quarters. Then Federer in semis. I think his chances are good.

He played really well in first round, 12 aces, saved all breakpoints... Wish I saw that. As you can see I'm only looking at stats... Darn.

Vamos Guillermo!!! The force is with you Guille.

This is the gossip I know so far, Gasquet is playing really well but his first round opp was easy. Gonzalez last I checked the score was already having trouble but its too early to call, Chela is on a roll so I hope its not him, Nalbandian isn't playing with the same confidence and is kind of shaky these days. Federer, well we all know where that stands ;)Good luck Willy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS Anybody watching Roddick this morning, if he loses its the first upset.

And Roddick goes down, what a shame, NOT! Gonzalez is down two sets and its not even close, have to run now. No more sitting and watching scores :(

It really sucks I couldn't see the match
I have to work when most RG matches are played during the week. Took a Eurosport subscription specially for the matches on demand, so I could watch Willy's matches afterwards and the f*cking service doesn't work

I hope someone will upload some matches on Megaupload or provide a torrent...

Don't despair! You can watch Guillermo's Round2 match on demand FREE!!! from tennischannel.com. Go to Watch Online, on-demand, etc and it gives you the option to watch the match at your convenient time. I would watch as as soon as you can. You never know they might only keep it for a few days... Let me know if you guys have a problem looking for it.

Yesterday I could watch some matches on demand on Eurosport player however, but they didn't offer Cañas' match. I do hope they will provide his match against Vliegen.

Here's the tennis channel link for Guillermo's Round2 match. Just give it another try... He finally changed his shirt. And the match was so clean. It was so stranged, but I think he deliberately didn't plan on any winners, except for the aces (about 8). I just love it when he makes the opponent dig his own grave with unforced errors.

Maybe some of you have heard, but if not, I was listening to the French Open radio and one of the commentators said his favorite ATP player is Willy: Because he always showed genuine interest in whatever you're trying to say, and is always very kind and sincere.

I've always know that Willy is a cool guy, but to hear others announce it publicly is still quite nice :)

Yes, but unfortunately they keep referring to the dope ban when talking about his results. The Belgian Press said that the worst thing that could happen to the FO Organization would be Willy going very far in the tournament. They also seem to hide him as long as possible in one of the backyard courts

When he entered the court yesterday against Vliegen, the Belgian fans (there were a lot) all started booing. I was truly ashamed my country showed such a lack of fair sportsmanship
While warming up they shouted "yeah" every time Kristof hit the all and "booh" every time Willy hit it   SO CHILDISH!!! Moreover they shouted obscenties (in Dutch) to him very often and I heard Vliegen say some too
Good Willy doesn't understand Dutch but nevertheless it must have been very annoying for him.
Good he's mentally strong and he beat the sh** out of Vliegen hehe

Kudos also for Willy for keeping his dignity and neglecting the hostile audience :yeah:

Let's hope he gives them all a run for their money and plays a great FO :yeah:
Wouldn't that be a sweet revenge!!!

It is great, you hear so often how many of the players off court are really jerks and it kind of makes you lose respect for them. But all I've ever heard about Guillermo is how nice he is. No one could blame him if he had a chip on his shoulder after the way most everyone treated him about the scandal but he doesn't. As for me, well I cheer every time Luby loses along with a few others. ;) Hes definately showing all of them who the all time better player is.

3-1, but the last one (Barcelona 2007) was a walk over. It looks like it might be a tough one.

Great tennis from Willy today

Now he gets Davydenko who he has gone 3-1 in his career against but has not beaten him since 04. (It's 4-1 if you count the W/O)

I think his chances are very good. Guillermo has played the cleanest matches so far- 13 unforced errors with match vs Monaco. Davy had 63 UE with Nalbandian, Fed had 43 UE today too. Apparently, the crowd gave him standing ovation today!!!!! Proud of you Guillermo! March on.. to the finals! Vamos!

Hey i meant to come after the Vligen match and congratulate this great player, i also wanted to ask if any of you know why he lost that one set against him?? Lack of concentration?? did Vligen step it up and while guile started thinkin a bit far ahead and made a few unforced errors?? Just wanna know as long as its not fatigue.

Im a little worried with the percentage against Monaco on first serve, only like 46% I really hope he gets that higher cos davydenko is gonna be all over the serve (thats just cos hes a great returner) he looks a little sluggish at times against David so hopefully hes worn himself down, i really hope Willy gets through in 4 sets MAX cos hes gonna need all his energy for.... the semis :( And knowing how robredo matches up against that opponent in the quarters *ahem*, i doubt that he the guy will be feeling any less fresh than he was in the first round since none of these guys have taken a set off him!!!

I just really hope that some miracle happens so Willy doesnt have to run too much and I hope the "Clean" results are because Willy is just striking the ball so well not cos hes running getting so many shots back that the opponent is getting forced to errors.....

UghHHH I guess im just nervous I really want him in the final, TBH i didnt recognise him until that second consecutive truimph in Miami (cos I dont like "the one who shall not be named") and i was happy that Willy was able to beat him twice! But now i respect him so much cos hes such a humble/genuine human being, and hes always had great talent and he is the perfect tennis player in mind and body (plus hes friends with rafa :) ) So im really hoping he makes the finals this year, and i dont care if he beats rafa (well maybe i care a little) cos id like to see him just shove it in everyones face, he deserves it.

Good Luck, Venga Willy!!!!!

On of the commentators trys to call Willy "argentinian way" and it sounds like Guishermo, but it's way too far from what it should be))))))

Oh, please, Willy, you still can do that!

Davy really is a bad match up for Willy :( :(
And everything seems to work for him today and nothing for Willy

At least he kept his serve, but he HAS to break

Don't know what to say... But I'm sure he's feeling worse than me. But, all in all, Bravo Guillermo :bigclap: for a a good tournament. I'll be at Wimbledon, so I'm going to look for Guillermo there. I think it was a matter of Davy figuring Willy's game before Willy could figure out what to do. Davy had UE to high heavens but still won. The good old stategy didn't work this time. Willy seemed to fall for the same traps multiple times. Anyway, easy for me to say sitting here. I can't even figure out my own backhand.
You're still a great tennis player Guillermo:worship: and as you said, there's another tournament next week. Life goes on.

"The clay season is over".

"I come from eight weeks touring on clay and I want to rest a week. The idea is to play in Hertogenbosch, on grass, as a preparation for Wimbledon. If I don't feel good to go to Germany, I will go six or seven days before to England to train for Wimbledon".

With the goal of reaching top 20 already achieved, "Now we will see what the next goals are"

"I expect to finish the year like now, in a good level in París-Bercy, the last tournament... well, maybe the last one will be other..." ;)

Canas just matches up badly against that type of player, Look at the record against hewitt (although hes better than he was back then), davydenko has been playing the best tennis of his life, he had HUGE chances to win all 3 sets against federer (especially 5-2 in the 3rd set), and was only let down cos he doesnt beleive he can beat federer, he DOES however, believe he can beat anyone else (pretty much) and is much less nervous when hes leading against anyone else (watch the match against rafa in rome), thats the reason he won, its such a shame Canas' game just matches up horribly with davydenko and they werent on seperate parts of that Section of the draw, he played his heart out, I wish he had a weapon or 2 so he wouldnt need to work hard for every point, but I guess he will soon be able to take the ball as early as Davydenko does (to become more agressive and save himself all the running), as he plays more matches, and once that starts happening i think he will be able to beat guys who can run like him (Davydenko, Hewitt, even djokovic)

davydenko was playing some of the best tennis of his life, it stinks that Canas came up against him on that day. But then he turns around and loses this week, why couldn't that have happened early in the draw at RG? One of the things in life that makes you go grrrrrrr. And I know its only my personal op but of every single player I can think of in the ATP, Davydenko has got to be the ugliest. His game is the only attractive thing about him.

Davydenko sucks on grass and clay is his best surface, or at least his best results all come on clay so im assuming its his best surface. Strange cos he has a big serve he loves returning is a good mover and hits very very flat, u would think hed prefer grass...

I wonder what Canas is like on grass

It's not his best surface, but he plays pretty well on grass.
