I've just seen the draw, against Radek :(

And, his draw is not easy, except maybe the second round (depending who is the qualifier), there are players like Monaco, Acasuso, Melzer, Cañas, Gasquet is around unfortunately.

In their head to head, Fernando leads 1-0, the only meeting was in Dusseldorf in 2004 !!

Tomorrow, I go to Roland-Garros for the Charity day, I hope to see Fernando, he should arrive in Paris today :)

VAMOS :bounce:

i don't know how Stepanek has been doing lately  but Fernando has been playing well so he can do it. There are some dangerous players in his section but not all of them have been hot lately. If Fena is "on" like the AO, it won't matter

:wavey: Have a great time Val-hopefully you will get to see Fernando and get some pics!

Thanks everyone

To Sparko : The best result of Stepanek on clay this year, is a second round, in Monte-Carlo and Rome, so I don't think that he's playing well at the moment. Fernando gained confidence in Dusseldorf, so I think he'll win, but we never know, but I'm sure that he'll win even if he'd have liked to face another player than Stepanek. We cross our fingers :)

The weather forecasts are not good, so prepare to have rain delay  This week was soo warm. At the moment, it's raining in Paris, a big storm two hours ago. So, I hope it will rain a lot during the night and no tomorrow, and we'll see some great tennis.

I'll try to make a report each evening. Should I post it in "the fenaticos" section or here ?

Back from Roland-Garros, we had no rain today :) :)

I entered in the stadium around 10.15 am and immediately I found Fernando on a practrice court (he started at 10 am). He was practricing with Ljubicic. The practrice was nice to watch and Fernando made some good shots and was smiling :) He was wearing his green shirtless and his black bandana (my favourite one).

After his practrice, he signed and took some pictures. He left the practrice court in direction to the Chatrier, my friend asked him if he'll play today the Charity Day. He said yes. Then, we saw on the OP that he was playing for the Charity Day, on the Chatrier court, against Roger Federer (was the second match of the day). A few minutes later, I saw Gisela Dulko coming back from the training. I think they practriced at the same time.

Roger def. Fernando, 7/6. During the Charity day, there are several matches, in one set only. The score is good for Fernando, he broke Federer once, but Roger broke back Fernando, I thought that he was going to win. Even if it was an exhibition, I wanted him to win, and he was so close.

Sad to see that he has to play his first match tomorrow. The OP sucks tomorrow, don't understand why Fernando has to play tomorrow. Anyway, good luck to him, I really hope he'll defeat Stepanek, he can do it, vamos Fernando :bounce: :bounce:

Hola, I'm back from the stadium. As you saw, it's raining a lot at the moment in Paris, and Fernando's match has been cancelled. He didn't practrice in the stadium today (maybe outside, if there are some indoor courts). Fernando left the stadium around 4pm. I left a few minutes later the stadium as well. This morning, I watched a little bit Gisela's practrice. I didn't have a ticket for Fernando's match today so for me it's not so bad that the match has been cancelled. More days with Fernando :) I hope the weather will be better soon cause I thought I was in Wimbledon :rain: Last week in Paris, it was the summer, so unfair...

Here's the order of play for tomorrow, I have a ticket for the Lenglen, so I'll have to swap it with someone who has the Court 1, it should be easy, because most of the French play on the Lenglen. I should be there, and the forecasts are better for the afternoon.

Hola :)

Back from the stadium, still under the :rain: Terrible day, but not so terrible because I saw Fernando 20 minutes this afternoon during Razzano match. He practriced very fast but had to stop because of the :rain: Well, it's becoming expensive to see Fernando  20 mins in 48 hours !! We have been lucky because we went to buy something and then, I said to my friend, "we should come back to see, we never know", we came back and nobody, then, my friend told me "we can wait a little bit" and about 5 mins later, we saw Fernando coming with Larry, they were running, because the practrice courts are at the opposite side of the Court 1. So, it's a bit of luck !!

This morning, we exchanged our tickets and everything was ok. Well, it's becoming so boring !! I have never seen that in my life, it's maybe about 10 years that I go to Roland-Garros, and it has never been like that. It's raining, and it's cold. Well, tomorrow will be better.

RF : Yes, I have a ticket for tomorrow. Maybe, we'll have him on a small court, would be great.

Doris : What do you mean ?

It's so tough to be at a tournament when it's raining most of the day. And then for day after day, it's terrible.

But glad you got to see Fernando for a little bit.

Poor Fernando and all the guys - just waiting around sucks and not being able to really practice.

enqvistfan
05-28-2007, 07:46 PM
Yes, it's tough for them, nervously, Fernando was smiling during the short practrice. He practriced with Lappenti. One funny thing, this morning, my friend was waiting for me at the subway exit, and she saw Larry, Carlos and another man (I think it's a guy from Mas que tenis but not sure) running this morning (under the rain). Larry really wanted to run and the two others were not so motivated because of the rain I think

Of course, it's tough for the players, but it's more difficult for us, because we are outside, it's cold, we are wet and we pay for nothing. The tournament doesn't pay us back when it's raining. The OP is not published yet, but I think if the weather is ok, they'll start at 10 am (instead of 11), would be great.

It's not funny and we want to see tennis matches now !!

Against rain, there's nothing to do unfortunately. The most important is that he'll play his first round today  I'm happy that it's on a small court to be honest, the atmosphere will be great as always on those courts :) Well, we are not the only tournament where we have rain, it was the same last year in NY, it's always raining in Wimbly. The program is great today, unfortunately, we won't be able to be everywhere.

I feel the same way Rogifan :awww: I just returned home and checked the scores and find my top ranked fav is the one that lost-and it doens't even look like it was close.

 for Fena, I'm sure he is really depressed right now.

shocking loss... i saw a little at the end of the match and Mr. Hingis outplayed Feña... :o

i cant believe how bad is Feña on clay right now..., well he did it well in Rome BUT... Hardcourters like Pete, Andre, Krajicek and others played well in Rome but in the rest of the clay tournaments... :help: sucked... like Feña did it in the 3 or last 4 RGs

well regroup for the grass season Feña...

Hola, sorry if I didn't write yesterday evening, but very shocked by Feña's result and second, my internet connection didn't work, nothing for me yesterday

As NicoFan, i knew that it would be a tough match for Fernando but didn't think he'd loose in straights sets.

Fernando practriced on Court 18 (one no available), the problem yesterday is that all the practrice courts were not available because there were matches, there were two practrice courts available and Fernando practriced on the worst one (with Lopez, Nalbandian and Grosjean). He's practriced for 30 minutes, left the court, took some pictures.

After the lunch, we decided to go to Court 13 just to have good seats, the problem is that we had to watch Benetteau's match (which was very long) and Ferrero's match (we don't like JCF), so when Feña entered on the court, we were very happy

Stepanek played very well, he didn't miss many points, and all the balls he hitted, most of the time they were in the court, it was unbelievable. Fernando became more and more nervous, he changed his pair of shoes, was touching his head band many times, he broke his racket, well, we noticed that he was not good, and was maybe surprised by Stepanek's level. Stepanek played many times Fernando's backhand. I don't think that it's the worst match of Fernando on clay, to be honest and objective, it's just that Stepanek played a great match, Fernando couldn't do any thing, maybe because Hingis was there  (3 rows behind us I think)or maybe Stepanek played the match of his life in Roland-Garros and was motivated to play a top 5 player. At the end of the match, Stepanek pointed his finger on Hingis like "it's for you, I did it"  We were so sad for Fernando, he looked at our direction three times, we were in the first row, we were with our flag and tried to cheer him. He left the court, he waved his supporters, but the evening I think was difficult for him, he was one of the outsider of the tournament and he lost in the first round.

Hopefully, there's still the mixed doubles to play. I have a ticket for tomorrow, hope they'll play. I'll continue to support him !!

Thanks for the report Val! :yeah:

I read an interview with Feña yesterday and he said that this wasn't his worst match, all the credit to Ugly Radek :p

You're welcome. I also read the interview of Fernando after posting here, and we (Fernando and me) thought the same thing, Stepanek played great. It was a good day for Radek unfortunately, and we have to accept it. He'll forget that defeat and will be back on grass. Now, he's going to have fun in the doubles :)

Thanks for the report Val! :yeah:

Thanks for report EF. Just Fernando's luck that Mr. Hingis starts playing well against him. Once again, the stupid draw. :ras: Stepanak was a tough first round draw-look at all the matches b/t lower ranked players, why didn't Fena draw one of those players??? :awww: Oh well, he has to look foward and prepare for the grass season now. :yeah:

I'm still upset because Feña had a good chance to gain important points for the ranking :sobbing:

Hopefully the grass season will be better :)

I've just bought the French newspaper l'"Equipe", and there are some quotes from Fernando, I hope he'll forget very fast this defeat :

"I was not catastophic, but he played a so good match. I tried to change my strategy, but against somebody who always surprise you, who goes to the net when you don't expect it, who plays flat and who serves well, it was difficult. To lose this way makes me sorrow"

"Yes, I had great expectations for this tournament. But, I lost ten minutes ago, how do you want me to say, how I'll cope with this defeat"
