no doubt about it, Haas vs Schüttler is certainly the BLOCKBUSTER tomorrow!

but I'm still upset about that crappy draw, the 2nd round is too early for these two to meet each other :banghead: :fiery:

I hope Haas moves up the rankings soon so he gets seeded again to avoid that.

Schuettler leads 3-0 and this wasn't in his prime time. He beat Haas 3 times when Haas was playing his best tennis so I expect another win from Rainer tomorrow. Somehow Haas can't beat him.

Tommy vs. Rainer :banghead:

This match is going to be HELL on my nerves. My logic is this: I'm cheering for the guy that I've been cheering on for 8 years vs. 4 years.

So: GO TOMMY!! :D

Did anybody watch the match with Kratochvil and Sargsian? was it just Kratochvil performing like a champion, or did Sargsian have some kind of injury?

Im a bit suprised by the result.....

sorry, don't know... only people who visited the tournament today know what happened in this match because that outer court has no TV coverage

Did you have the chance to watch Horna beating Mutis? - horna just returned from Bermuda Tuesday, but was able to overcome Mutis relatively easy......could he be in for a win against Dent? or is he to tired.......

Shame it wasn't the final Gadet. I really like Rainer. He is more of a stylish grinder. I love later bloomers for some reasons.

I agree, Dirk, the organisers were hoping that this matchup would not happen until the final as well.
Now if Rainer can win tomorrow, I can trot along to see him in the SF on Saturday! :)

my comment to the Schüttler vs Haas match:
you could say Haas played like a coward in the deciding moments. At first you had no clue who wins it, then my feeling drifted to Schüttler, after the 2nd set through midway the 3rd set Haas figured Schüttler's game out pretty well and I thought he will win, but then Haas somehow was missing the last determination. He had 15-30 or 15-40 on Schüttler's serve at 3-2 in the 3rd and he played Schüttler's ball that was way too short in half-field too soft and like a coward. A player with confidence in the deciding moment will convert that ball with power and unreachable.
Then in the next game, Tommy's service game, he began all of sudden double faulting (his only two double faults of the whole match came in this one game). Rainer was immediately there to make it 0-40. A few moments later, it looked like Haas could still get out of this game because he had deuce and even advantage, back to deuce again and then came the next double fault and Schüttler took this decisive break off an unforced error (I think it was a mishit off Tommy's racket).

It's as easy as that: Haas played like a coward in the decisive moment, was lacking the final determination and you could say he double faulted the match out of his hands.

well done Rainer, congrats! :)
Tommy, I have trust in you... you will furhter improve, I don't worry. :yeah:

in the other match after Schüttler/Haas, Davydenko adjusted very well to Hanescu's serve and he made Hanescu look like a joke. Davydenko outlasted Hanescu bigtime the 2nd and 3rd set. But many good points in this match, was also fun to watch.

Haas should have a good RG and Hamburg. Looks like he could do well for the rest of the year. Maybe next year he will bloom as a slam contender. Rainer is back. :)
