He has QF to defend  I hope this year he won't have to retire :o

God,i was so worried after Monte Carlo that with that game he won`t be able to defend the QF points but after Rome,Estoril and Hamburg he improved a lot so i believe that he can do it:worship: !but with the "big" day coming tomorrow i really wish he`ll be a good boy, stay quiet and don`t party tooooo much so he`ll be 100% recovered for RG:p !seriously,i`m worried for his fitness again but you know that the 3rd time is he happy one so we don`t allow him to retire before the final!:p

I'm nervous about his draw. I wish he had won that Moya match so he would have been the #4 seed. Instead, seeded 6... and knowing his luck... it'll probably be Rafa in the QF again.

good news, bad news

bad news is nole is in Rafa's half but only can meet him in semis which says a lot about my expectations. But as for the draw , it's very doable, 1st round qualifier and then Sam Querrey and on it goes. The hardest player in his quarter is David Ferrer

1st round---Q
2nd round---Q
3rd round---Calleri
4th round---Ferrer

SF---Nadal

Not too bad. Calleri is one of the more difficult 25-32 seeds. Ferrer is the best of the 9-12 seeds, though they are all dangerous (Robredo, Berdych, Gasquet, Ferrer). Ferrer's toughest challengers in his first 3 rounds are Verdasco, di Mauro, and Hartfield, so I would expect a Novak v Ferrer round of 16 match---maybe on Monday 4 June.

Does anyone know what would happen if the elements kept to be this unrelenting? On RG site I read that in '73 men's final was held on Tuesday (two days past the planned Sunday) because of the bad weather. What are the options nowadays? May the organizers move some of the matches indoors (perhaps to Bercy Hall which hosts the autumn Paris Masters)? Which would admittedly be a bad solution because of the different surface, but...

 I didn't realize Marilyn Manson was still doing his thing.

We're still a long way from having to delay the final. 44 Matches behind schedule is nothing.

And no, they wouldn't change to a different venue, even if they had to play the Final on the first monday of Wimbledon.

Now, people really can be too traditional for their own good... Having Hawk-Eye and not having night lights? Amazing.

For Wimbledon, the grass will be too slippery to play on after sundown, so don't make much sense to have lights.

Farenhajt
05-29-2007, 09:20 PM
Yes, that's a perfectly good reason for not having lights in Wimbledon. But "Hawk-Eye" was merely a metaphor (of course I know there's no such tecnhology in RG, as it's not needed) for adopting novelties while sticking to apparently counterproductive tradition.

And some movable light roofs would come handy as well...
