Safin fans...Marat is mad at you!

Q. How much do you like when people says, "Oh, we are very happy because Safin is back"? I mean, your friends, your colleague, players, what do you think it means for tennis if Safin is back and everybody is happy? Because you are good character, because you are nice guy?
MARAT SAFIN: This is the things that is most annoying, actually.

Q. Really?
MARAT SAFIN: Of course. Of course it's annoying. Of course like everybody's happy, sure, "Marat comes back, he's playing great tennis, I'm really happy for you." Come on.
Seriously, whenever you are losing, like, "It's his fault." Whenever he is winning, "that's us." That's the team, the people. And whenever the guy is losing, whenever he has two, three, four matches, bad matches, "It's his fault," "He doesn't want to practice," "He doesn't want to do this," "He doesn't want..." "He doesn't want..." "He doesn't need..." "He doesn't care..." He doesn't whatever they want to say.
But then when everything goes well, everybody is like -- all of a sudden there are coming friends from out of the -- from behind the stone and they are saying, "Oh, my God, he's back finally, and I was there to help him out."
So it's a little bit annoying, and also it's annoying when the people, they come to you and they try to explain to you, "But maybe you should have a little bit -- you will be more calm, you will be much better..."
Yeah, but normally - is also another thing - is all the time who says this, they're normally losers. Because they don't know how much time, how much dedication, how much it takes to be where I am right now.
And of course there is not such a thing as a perfect player; it doesn't exist. It has to be a balance. So of course if you take out of my serve, would be with me, so maybe I would have better head. But because I have a serve or because I have this kind of game, that's why I have this head, and I have to deal with that. I know that's my problem. I cannot change it. Nobody can change it. I can improve it a little bit. But it's my head, it's the way I am. It's how I am. It's no chance I can be different.
So whenever they start to teach you and explain to you...

that's what fair-weather fans would say. but not his troop of loyal fans who've been around for the last few years... we might rant when he loses, but that's more out of disappointment than anything. and we've still been supporting him all this time. through the last year especially.

i'll admit that there are ppl who've said things like that, but these are probably the ppl who go around jumping on whichever bandwagon seems to be moving fastest anyway and are just hopping from wagon to wagon.

I won't get off your back Marat ;)

When he did bring up this topic in a press conference, IMO he should have added that he appreciates the fact that we care about him and try to help him, but that he knows what he's doing ;)

 I read it like it's about the people on the tour, as asked in the question. but yeah, could be about fans, but about the ones he meets and I don't think alot of his real fans get to talk to him more than a few sentences. I saw it more as a general comment on press and everyone flying around a tournament and a player.

I don`t think he is talking about his fans in particially, just about people who always say what he should do... yeah some fans too.

Yeah, he's just complaining about that, it's not a general comment on his fans

hmmm Vass, go right ahead with your excitement, but be ready for all the 14-year old girlie questions and exclamations in such a chat session. but we'll get him talking and thinking about the luck-thing, mister safin really needs some guidance there! ;)

Hey Marat if you want people to stop telling you what to do, then just make the most of your career. Surely you haven't forgot the lessons you learned in 2000? Marat should be happy people still care about him. I would love to see him win the title and do great at the rest of the clay events this year.

I think we are clearly different from those who, as safin said, come from behind the stone. sometimes we worry about his state just because we care of him and love him. we will always with him whether he is in good condition or not! however, he is really a haughty guy……

I don't believe Marat is mad at you or me.... ;)
of course some fans are amoung those pple he said, that's a big shame! But some fans are crazy, i undestand, sometimes they dunno what the hell they're talkin' about! Well, as I could realize he's mad and fed up of those pple who says smth inapropriated, stricted words, specially in the worst moments or in the moment when you're tryin' to be positive, get self-confidence, improve in all the ways, mentally as well, but unfortunately some pple are like that, don't care about Marat's feelings and say bullshits which makes he mad! To be honest, I'm not surprised at all with what he said. Marat it's so great, wonderful not only as tennis player but also as person. Besides, he says what he wants, pretty wisedly and some pple do not undestand the reason! Gosh, Marat you're the best! Anyways, in his last interviews you said about the short time between the tournaments and now about these things pple said and made you mad, hope everything will going to be better since now! :yeah: Also, WE WILL TRY TO PISSED U OFF LESS! LOL!

come on, guys, are you crazy?! Marat has seven fridays on a week (Russians will understand what I'm speaking about)! He often says things like that when he's annoyed or just not in the best mood, but he doesn't really think like that. He says sport is for entertaining and he doesn't like to feel much pressure and he's out there FOR US, so we could enjoy his tennis and he's sooooo right!!!!

Marat - ty luchshij! :)
