If he is so good, why wasn't he playing for all these years?

The guy who won Istres? I hadn't heard about that Benoît Paire either until now... Does anybody know more about him? (I mean his level, what he's done tennistically so far etc...)

Istres and Capd'Ail the week before. If you see his ITF record, you'll find that he has hardly played in the last few years.

In France Benoit is -2/6, he plays in Montpellier but he is from Avignon near Marseille.

Talent but arrogant as a player can be, will have a lot of work on mental side if wants to become a top player. All strokes are there and winning Futures is a great achievement. Still Rhyne Williams winning Futures two years younger is a bigger deal in my opinion. In two years he is not playing Futures anymore.

Yes sure, otherwise would be hard to judge. Saw him in two matches at Roland Garros. He must have been playing better last week.

Is there something specific? I didn't write any notes. Technically he was suberb, very classical style. Solid strokes from both sides. What annoyed me was his presence on court...he was tanking a lot, shouting and very unsportsmanlike. This was a match against Mirtea which he managed to turn around after very poor first set. Maybe he got the opponent a bit off as well, many others would have not given him a chance on that day.

nothing specific, thanks for the info. Actually, I was quite surprised the first time I heard about him this year as a lot of 89/90 frenches were talked about in forums but I had never heard of him before his wins in junior tournament this year. Kind of a "late-bloomer as a junior" I'd say. I was to see him play at this future he won but couldn't for some reason.

As about his behaviour I'm not that surprised since I read here and there that the mental part has always been a problem for him. Hope he improves on this anytime.

He had fines in Bourg en Bress for his behaviour and in St Gervais he was nicer and the court.
He nearly always lost the first set and begins to play at the beginning of the second set, it can be dangerous.
