Watch out! The true JesusFed is back! :p

Great week for Juanqui. I wouldn't discount a Top 10 comeback for him.

LOL at the scoreboard!

40-0 -> Federer winner -> 40-15 -> 40-30 -> 40-40 -> Federer winner

Nice sequence, huh? :tape:

Whether or not Fed manages to overcome Nadal in the final (assuming that it is Nadal he'll meet there), he has reestablished the fact, that even though clay might be his worst surface, there still aren't a lot of players who can trouble him on the surface. Even clay lovers like Ferrer and Ferrero were defeated fairly convincingly.

Yep, that's the Federer we know:)

Stats:
Federer Ferrero
1st serve% 58 71
Aces 3 0
Winners 33 8
Errors 26 9

Very good stats from Fed:D

He isn't quite in top form again yet. True, he hit 33 winners, but he also smacked 26 unforced errors to go along with that.

Very good performance. Ferrero played as he has done this week but was simply outplayed by Roger. Some of his volleys were awesome.

What is wrong with you JCF?
Losing that 5th game in the 1st set totally knocked the stuffing out of you. Where's the fighting spirit?

Those 7 games in a row that Federer won obviously decided the match but Ferrero had a real chance to get back. He should have saved that 3rd MP and had he done so, it would have been a tremendous confidence boost and shift in momentum.

Oh well, I guess it's been a good week all the same. But he's still got a way to go if he wants to get back to his old self. He'll need another run like this in at least two more clay tournies to get the old confidence back and challenge for a top 10 place.

Great, convincing performance by the FedMan!
Still not completely in top-form (the first half of the first set showed quite a bit of sloppiness here and there) - but very close to it nevertheless.
Very enjoyable match.

Kudos to JFC too, for an awesome tournament week - glad to see him back on track. He did his best against Rogi, but it just wasn't enough.

Oh yea, he's back...more winners than UE (though it's not quite there yet) and some great net game.

Some real smiles from him and joy of victory from him, I do believe he is finally happy with how his game looks like. What an improving player he is, to start of shaky, and just get progressivly better. Amazing.

Yea, it would be easier for Rog against Berdych, but I want to see that Rog-Rafa final, it's been long enough, and Rog should get a feel of him before RG.

Well done Roger. Should be a good confidence boost for the clay season but if he meets Nadal in the final, he will lose with that UE count. His volleys were very crisp however so he may still surprise me if he uses them well.

Another shaky start by Fed. He can't afford to have another start like this if he faces Nadal in the final. Nadal won't let him come back like Ferrer or Ferrero.

BTW, :rolls: @ the people who said Ferrero would give Fed lots of trouble and that he always challenges him.

Some of his volleys are just  Never thought he would've hit those shots

Great play from Roger :yeah: Now to the final...Win or lose, I just want to see how he stands against Nadal on clay now. There might be sth new to see.

Good enough for Ferrero.

I still don't think it's good enough for Nadal - he'll need to show more tomorrow.

That was some of the best hitting ever by Federer on a clay court. The second set seemed like a hardcourt match with the server not really troubled at all, Fed coming to net, etc.

Well at least he has successfully defended his finalist points from last year. Whatever else he can get will be gravy.

That lucky point that saved a break point at 3-1* completely changed the match, till that moment Federer was really struggling to get any kind of rythm.

No kidding! Federer has a betterer chance of beating Nadal than pretty much anyone else and that clay streak has gone on long enough. Come on Roger!!! WIN!!!!!!!!!!

Ferrero had way more against Gasquet...I think almost 30...I guess Federer just wasn't letting him hit the way Gasquet did.

By the way does anyone have this match for download?

Solid enough for Roger, now we will see whether we get any new information relative to where he was last year.

This match, in my opinion, has spelled the end of of JCF. Had he won that point at 3-1 (or that game for that matter) and somehow won the match, he may well have been back as a viable contender on the tour (as far as clay goes). Now: he blew his shot...and will most likely slink off into the darkness...never to see the light of his glory days again...

The guy lost in the semifinals of Monte Carlo to the #1 player in the world and all of a sudden he's done for?

Harsh.

I know he still holds back his power a lot. Even Federer said that after the match. And his movement isn't quite as crisp as it once was. In my opinion JC is about 80/85% of his true level at the moment. Compared to last year, where I'd say he was about 10%, there is definitely a lot of hope for him.

This strange cartoon TV show way of looking at things happens extremely rarely. One victory or one defeat changes the course of a player's career sometimes yes but this one I don't think so.

Roger did great, and theres no shame in losing to Federer. JC should be proud with how well he did this week, and I'm sure that he'll continue to be successful!
