Fed vs JCF

Fed owns a 6-3 HTH. Should be a relatively routine win. JCF doesn't have anything to really threaten Roger.

JCF is playing well this week and Fed looked ALOT better today then in his first match.

I give it to fed, but ferrero could suprise, who knows.

Federer in 2. He won't be eager to play long before The Nadal show

Ferrero will step it up. He always does against Federer because he enjoys playing against him. They've only played once on clay, but that was incomplete match. Obviously Fed is the favorite, but Ferrero has more weapons to hurt him than Ferrer does. If JC's forehand is locked in, then Fed needs to be very careful.

I don't know, Ferrero tends to play good against Fed because he likes the challenge. It could be a tougher match then some of you think if JC manages to stay with Fed in the beginning. I still predict a victory for Fed but I'm hoping for a good match.

They have always had tough matches (even on grass) and I don't expect anything different tomorrow. Fed will come through however.

most players do...and i think that's really important to remember every time roger steps into a tennis court its a final for the guy on the other side of the net..that's why roger's record should be applauded!

I like Fed's chances. Ferrero doesn't have much firepower. Gasquet would have been scarier.

Ferrero was getting his ass kicked today until Gasquet started breaking down physically. Fed in 2.

I think this is going to be really easy for Roger, something like his match against Ferrer, a tighter first set followed by a quick second.

I'm not feeling like it will be that close, unfortunately- but I'd love to be wrong. Fed in 2 tomorrow. :)

6-3 6-2 or something quite easy like that.

It was only a few years ago, this would be in Ferrero's favor. I think Federer has improved a lot since the first round, but Ferrero played so well to beat Gasquet.

A fit Gasquet would pose more problems to Federer.

If the case is that Ferrero likes to play against Federer because he is a "challenge" then that is completely stupid, why cant he find playing against somebody like Alberto Martin a challenge? He was beaten by him. He needs to stop looking down on others players because he is a slam champion, he is not the player he was and never will be.

Who knows? It depends on how much they sleep tonight :D No, I don't think Roger's win is so expected...I think that JC could create problems to Roger, especially if JC plays like he played against Gasquet and Roger plays like against Seppi. Anyway, it seems like Roger is getting more confident match after match... we'll see; it will probably be a funny match to watch! ^^

Ehm...ok...How the hell do you go from 'Ferrero thinks that Federer is a challenge' to 'Ferrero looks down on other players because he's a slam champion'? He just likes playing against Fed, not because he thinks he can easily beat him but because they have a history and always played great matches against eachother. And thank you for pointing out that Ferrero is not the player he once was! Really, without you I would have never figured that one out!

I see an easy win for Rog, he has raised his game, feels comfortable. I see him taking his game another notch up, and I do think we're finally going to get our Rog-Rafa final.

Well it's a double edged sword really.

On the one hand, yes Ferrero maybe does not posses as much 'raw power' as Gasquet does to hurt Roger with but on the other hand what he does have is more consistency and the ability to keep his intensity up for longer and not have the kind of lapses Gasquet has.

It should be a good match and a close one at that. I have Fed as the slight favourite to win but it could also go the other way!

I don't see this one being as close as many people think. Federer's been stepping it up a notch every match now, and Ferrero, well he got a bit lucky today with Gasquet's fading away. It'll be just another day at the office with a routine score 6-4 6-2 or so.

This one could go either way. Roger's just coming into his own after an uncharacteristic slump, but JCF seems to be on a Canas like mission @ the moment. If it was any other surface I wouldn't hesitate to pick Rogi, but on clay, I'll have to pass

JCF's forehand makes McEnroe's look respectable.

Roger will blow JCF off the court.

Shows how some people say things out of ignorance. Ferrero is known to have one of the best forehands in tennis. His backhand and serve is solid and he is fast. True, he is not in form of the #1 player he once was, but he has always played well in Monte Carlos and many people are saying he has played well against Federer in the past. It's going to be a good game.

He used to have a great forehand, now it's average (below average relative to top players). JCF is also down notches on the movement (speed).

Ferrero was always a bad matchup for Roger, plus clay is Ferrero's best and Roger's worst surface. So if Ferrero shows and Rogers play below his best Ferrero can win I think

Yes, true. But he was leading and he was playing much better than Ferrero.
That is also the year Federer after Federer won Hamburg, he was playing well on clay the whole 52 weeks before (all except that R1 in Paris).

well he was outclassed for most of the match.... but fortunately for him,Gasquet was too tired after all those long matches he had this week and he also had some physical problems at the end.
Anyway,i think Roger will win this one in two easy sets.

JCF played well towards the end of the second set and beginning of the third, but it will be hard for him to find that and maintain it through a whole match. i cant see roger losing this. he will have way too much. 6-2, 6-3

Unless JCF FH is on like it was in 2003, he doesn't stand much of a chance unless Fed is double-faulting and making errors left and right.

JCF, well he does not have a spectacular game, but it is very steady when he plays well. And that is what he managed today. He lost the first set, but he was not playing poorly, Gasquet was playing well. It's true that Richie did appear to tire late in the second, but JCF was part of the reason for that-- he engaged him in very good baseline stuff, steady and continuous. His game is not flashy, it will never look like Gasquet's, but he earns his points just as effectively.

Yeh Gasquet needs to get his fitness together if he's gonna fulfil his potential, he always has some kind of problem and its getting kinda old now. I love his game and everything, but come on tired, Nadal is the same age and when does he get tired.

AHAHAHA!!!!! They DO NOT have tough matches on grass AHAHA! If you're referring to 2005 wimbledon then that is NOWHERE near CLOSE. Federer just slipped away at the end when he was up a break for JFC to bring it up to a tiebreak. JFC was totally ball smashing towards the end because Federer was so overwhelming and he would have ran out of power sooner or later.

Juan Carlos Ferrero is the mentally weakest player I've seen on tour. Once things don't go his way he crumbles extremely fast. eg: playing roddick, nadal and few others. He's got a lonely personality which is expressed on his face. He just puts his heads down in misery once he's getting his ass wiped and don't know what to do. So in another words, he's just so stupid (unintelligent) and doesn't change any game tactics. The reason why he's not getting back up there to the top 10 whatever is mainly just because he has never improved the variety of his game and just maintained his mosquito like baseline play. He never gotten worst or anything, everybody just picked up their game. He's also one of the worst volleyers around as well nevertheless it's a joke lol. Seriously I see Federer absolutely thrashing this depressed guy. Federer will only get better as time goes by. Knowing that he is a former two times in a row and RG champion, Federer would not go easy hey and will go harsh on him. Good luck Roger!

Give Ferrero some credit, he played some awesome shots. I only noticed Gasquet breaking down physically towards the very end of the match during the last couple of games; like that horrendous overhead attempt. :o I say give Ferrero credit because he could have easily commited an error during all of those rallies, but he didn't.

What kind of idiot are you? You can't deny that Juan Carlos is a good player just because you dislike him. And I find your post ironic, because against Gasquet JC was getting his 'ass wiped' and then changed his tactics in order to defeat Gasquet. He wasn't down in the dumps, he picked up his game and won, which is what great players do when in trouble. So yeah, you're a moron:) The only valid point you made in your whole post is that Federer is a genius.
