Hahaha! This is hilarious!

Can't believe Pioline beat Muster on clay as well.

Rattled, McEnroe double-faulted on his second set point, and such was his frustration, the American threw his racquet the full length of the court.

The umpire, who had already warned McEnroe, then issued him with a point-penalty – a rare occurrence on the BlackRock Tour of Champions.

“From the beginning John was tense, and I knew that if something went wrong he would freak out and that would be my chance,” said Steeb.

“He deserved the point-penalty. It was bad timing but the umpire couldn’t do anything else.”

This was funny when John was on the tour but no so much now. He tries to hard to be like his old self and no one is really buying that act.

I saw him play in Belfast - he wasn't trying, he was really embarassed that it happened to him because his Dad was there.

The bloke pretends that it's all an act, but it isn't. He still loses it.

There is some audio from Steeb on the website (http://www.blackrocktourofchampions.com/5/news/2007/barcelona_audio.asp) and you can tell there was some aggro out there.

For me it's part of the appeal of McEnroe. It's just the way he is, and I think we should be grateful the bloke wants to keep playing, and CAN keep playing when he's nearly 50.

it used to be in his contract that he had to lose his temper and go all mental at least once a match

Not true. You've heard him say that on chat shows, but it's a load of bull. He basically says that a) to amuse people and b) to make people think he is in control of it.

He isn't.

I think this is a little naivety on your part. Perhpas sometimes he finds it easy to lose it but is doing it on purpose. It happpens every match without fail and that is because that is what the fans want to see him do, if you beluieve he is just getting angry match after match after match then I guess he fooled you well.

Not true - I've seen plenty of matches of his (untelevised) at the Masters at the Albert Hall where he has NOT lost it.

Fine, occasionally he'll throw a little one in just to keep people amused, but there are plenty of occasions where he does genuinely lose it.

You can't just change your personality, and the bloke has a temper.
