Both Gasquet and Ljubicic decided to play doubles, despite having to be on court around one hour after their three-hour marathon. :o

First Santoro/Zimonjic out to Nieminen/Pavel :( and now this. Many seeds are going out in the doubles .

If Richard is too tired to be competitive tomorrow he only has himself to blame, IMO.

Still, well done to him, Benneteau, Gonzalez and Ljubicic for putting paid to seeds.

Yeah, it was a really silly decision not to pull out, IMO. They may have won their doubles match but it might very well cost him in singles tomorrow.

well maybe Richard can win the doubles title. People act like winning a doubles title means nothing but I know I was thrilled when I won my first doubles title. :D

He played a marathon and then decided to play doubles? Didn't he learn anything from Youzhny's USO lesson?

Anyway, it's up to him. If he wins against JCF he's the man

On the other hand he's still young and he's the kind of player who can gain a lot from playing doubles (since he has hands to find those angles).

I would normally agree but he has a history of showing signs of fatigue if he plays a lot of tennis before going into a match - if the match is tough this extra match today could end up costing him.

Still, we'll have to wait and see.

today i noticed in match vs ivan that richie's net-play has improved a lot! he never lost more then 3 pts on net,so it has helped him out! it's so to his net play benefit!

I hope he didn't feel he had to play because of Benneteau... :tape:

Very bad choice IMHO. :o
