I've been so busy all morning that i haven't had a chance to post.

It could be a tough tournament, but like Fergie said, he's seeded.

I'm going to take it match by match. It's asking a lot with his lack of confidence right now for him to make the finals, but hopefully he can get a couple of wins.

VAMOS NICO! FOREVER! :fiery:

VAMOS NICO!!

NicoFan
04-21-2007, 01:37 PM
Well if Nico were in his top form, he should be able to beat Roitman easily.

But he's not in his top form. Just like in Vina where as everyone is remembering, Roitman almost beat him.

So who knows.

Right now I'm just hoping that the attitude changes.

We'll be able to tell from the scoreboard.

Here I am, worried about Nico being sad and bummed, and he's having a grand time in Morocco buying fake watches and trying to convince people they are the real thing. :haha:

This is from Roitman's blog on atptennis.com. And gracias to Excalibur for translating.

"Hello everyone!

This week I will be writing from Casablanca, my second tournament on the clay tour. It is an honour for me to write the ATP Blog in Spanish. I hope that it brings me luck.

We arrived from Monte Carlo, where I lost in the 2nd round against Max Mirnyi, and obviously everything is different. There, I was staying in a hotel on the coast, and my room had a balcony with automatic shutters, from which you could see the blue (water) of the bay of the Mediterranean, the yachts...it was like a living scale model. In Morocco, the image I have is that of a lady hanging up her underwear on the balcony opposite and some very strange satellite dish antennae.

Casablanca is a very interesting city and different to those that we South Americans are used to. The first thing that one notices is the subject of religion. In the afternoon, around 4pm, you can be in the club and suddenly by loudspeakers, as if there were a rush of horses, a voice appears which reads out the prayers. the religious affairs are very loud, they can be in the middle of the street, but when the hour arrives, they get out their mats and...on the floor! It is loud for those who come from the other side of the world.

In the first round of the tournament I take on Nicolas Massu, whom I know very well. In fact, yesterday we went together to a typical market, with his trainer, Gabriel Markus. my trainer, Alejandro Lombardo, and both our physical trainers. The ATP ordered a taxi, and on our return, we took one in the street. It is common that private cars function as taxis, but at least this one said: "Small Taxi."

We didn't take cameras with us to the market so that we wouldn't appear to be tourists, but it was inevitable that they realised . Impossible escape: they throw themselves on top of you to sell and offer you anything, trainers that appeared to be brand names, but weren't.

Nico and I didn't say anything about the match we're playing on Tuesday. In fact, before playing the quarter finals of Vina del Mar, Mercedes organised a boat race which both of us went to, and at no point did we talk about the fact that we had to play (each other). I hope that this time the result will be different...out of the question!

In the market, I finished up by buying movies, Babel and a couple of comedies to pass the time. Also CDs, which are my sytle

As for Massu...I will have to kill him, He bought 4 fake watches!! Imagine the brands! Thet ought to be Trolex, sure! And the other perhaps Charrrtierrr, with several "r." Then he goes around and shows them off (the watches) as if they were real, but they should be worth around 20 dollars. Who does he want to deceive?? My trainer also bought some that ought to be Tulgari and and not Bulgari.

Tonight we will try Moroccan pizza...Ill then comment on how I went on.

Ah, and don't forget to visit my website: www.sergioroitman.com.ar. I am waiting for you!

See you tomorrow.

Escopeta Roitman."

I just checked out the blog from Roitman, I had to read it in spanish and I laugh even more this time  ... Roitman already made the blog for the 2nd day and he mentioned again the incident with the watches, here it's in spanish

Basically Roitman says that the only thing that he didn't like of his experience doing the blog is that some chilean web site posted a headline about this comment a little bit outside of place, that this site wanted to make "news" from his jokes in the blog, Roitman even says that Nico is his friend and that he got it as the joke as it was and that that was his only intention.

I just have to say that I'm not surprised about this at all  the chilean press is really something :retard:

Sparko1030
04-24-2007, 03:50 AM

I'm not surprised either. Reminds me of all the crap during Davis Cup.

It was so obviously a joke. My Spanish stinks, and even I got the joke. :(

Problem is that there are people in Chile that will read the Chilean web site and believe it without checking out the original.

Poor Nico...

NicoFan
04-24-2007, 11:41 AM
Maybe it's my turn not to understand the joke, but seems to me that this is kind of dissing Nico for going to the market with Sergio? Hmmm....last year when Melzer was blogging from Casablanca, he also talked about going shopping and I didn't hear the Austrian press saying anything about it. Again though - maybe my spanish isn't good enough and they are just going along with the joke.

it's not that the press in austria doesn't write stupid things.:D the thing is just that people from austria and so the press is not really interested in their tennis players since muster isn't playing on the atp tour anymore.

anyway, I like the picture of Nico!

guess what?? Roitman's blog is back! :yeah:

OMG!!! I'm laughing sooo much! this guy is hilarious!!! I'll translate the part when he talks about today's match and the funniest parts :p of course you can read it on the atp site in spanish ;)

Translation ...

Do I have to talk about the match against Massu? oh well if I have no other choice ... Nicolas played very well, very solid with his backhand  My strategy was to insist in his backhand but he played very deep. I didn't expect that. And the worst thing was that he broke when the match was starting and he handle with calm the result. I couldn't figure out the way out, everything that I tried was wrong. In the second set, when I was already lost, I saw a light when after being 1-5 went to 3-5 with my serve, but then I got rushed and it's over.

In the afternoon I went to the market to change the DVD of the movie "the number 23". When I was watching it instead of Jim Carrey I got the Donald duck singing Happy Birhtday!!! :haha: I arrived to the place where I bought it and you know what he told me?!?! that the warranty had expired!! ... If I bought 2 days ago!!! and he was "oh no, it is expired" I kept arguing with him and the guy was stearing at me and whispering "what else can I say??" ... anyway those are the risks of buying movies here ....

Today wasn't a fun day for me, right now I'm getting ready for the tounament party. In fact it's going to be something like a dinner, very quiet. I just lost a bet with my coach and physical trainer and I have to wear a typical marroqui shirt, wich is a gift but it's hidius!! white and embroidered, everybody is going to laugh at me! the bet? I keep it for myself.

This guy is sooo funny!!! I wish he wins some doubles matches 'cause I want to keep reading this things :rolls:

From latercera.

They finally posted the rest of the article. I can't even comment because I'm so disgusted right now.

Basically He says that he doesn't know what is happening to him 'cause he was feeling well before the match, that he felt a strong pain in his right ribs and he tried to continue during the 2nd set but he couldn't do it, that he preffers to go to Munich to have the medical exams there to know what happened ... so yoyo it seems that he'll go there ;)

thanks for your translation, Kid.

I am so happy that Nico will be in Munich!

But I read in an article on cooperativa that Gaby is going back to argentina and wont be in munich due to family problems. again I hope nothing serious here to.

So, Lovely, we have to support Nico even more, when Gaby is not there!:rocker2:

And on a german forum I read that somebody has seen the match and that Nico really had very strong pain starting in the first set. He was really suffering!

:awww: I was afraid of that. For Nico to retire I thought is had to be worse than it sounded. I guess its more waiting till he sees a dr. and makes the results public.

Thanks for the info yoyo :) I hope its nothing too serious with Gaby's family either. Nico MUST play at Munich for you and Lovely.

Yes, I hope so too, Kid!

I hope that the doctors will find out .......nothing :D and this will never happen again.
I want to see a hot-blooded vampiro there, giving his best and staying a whole week in munich, although I can't.
