@Trollin Stone: do you still come to these parts? I sure hope you watched this. I was so scared of a repeat of last year.

Awesome result! Funny to see how almost everyone is happy with this.

I support Federer, Murray, Karlovic and some others.

Occasionally, yes, but this was to mock them as Bob or Mike(not sure which one) said something and stared.

Quite a few of the regulars to the doubles forum wouldn't be. They haven't posted in this thread yet.
Tough loss for Bryans fans actually. The CYGS looked almost inevitable.

@Jimnik, you too turned out to be correct. If anyone could have done it, it was P/S

It's not that Lerander is just the best player in the world in doubles, it's those clutch points or pressure situation where Leander lifts his game.

Stepanek was down and out in first set. Leander kept talking to him and got him back in the game. Stepanek found back his serve and also started playing confidently seeing Leander frogging around all over the court battling alone against the twins.

It was incredible play of tennis by Leander.

Paes has incredible reflexes and greats hands. Of course, he (and Steps) hasn't been on much lately, so it's easy to forget that. Even at 40, he is one of the best players out there. What was amazing about today was he managed to out-clutch the Bryans who have been unbelievably clutch in the past 12 months(I mean, do the Bryans even remember the meaning of nerves/pressure?). The fact that the two of them have been playing so terribly lately just increases the enormity of this win for them. It's also important in that they now have a very good chance to qualify for the WTF even if they lose the final.

Honestly, the thing about these two is that both are head cases on court. But somehow, when they click, they compliment each other so well that that actually works out in their advantage. Quite surprising.

Dodig and Melo deserve the win more now that Bob and Mike exited. After all, they made the Wimbledon final and they're splitting up after the Open.

Don't the Bryans still have the Non-Calendar Year Golden Slam? Still more impressive than anything Paes or Stepanek have done

They do, but when you get 1 and only 1 chance to do something that has only been done by Laver, Steffi and pre-Open era doubles team, that really means nothing at the moment.
