Re: Australian Open Doubles Draw

Granollers/Lopez trounced Bellucci/Paire, 6-3 6-1.

Bellucci was truly woeful Many bad UEs and lots of poor lobbing and moonballing.

Re: Australian Open Doubles Draw

I can't.

Apart from their first-round opponents they've beaten good or solid teams too, and in straight sets But the best test is to come next.

Bol/Fog

Cabal and Farah are tough opponents but it's still a great chance to make SF and stun the Bryans

Re: Australian Open Doubles Draw

The Italians advance, winning 1-6 6-4 6-3. Only saw the last set and it wasn't the best of matches, but the right team won. Bolelli is inflammable at the net.

Also, so much testosterone on court A lot of cheering, chest-bumping and overly aggressive volleys and smashes being hit. And Bolelli grabbing Fognini's ass as they jumped to celebrate the win

Re: Australian Open Doubles Draw

Cabal/Farah started very solid but they got worse and worse as the match progressed. Last set was a disaster. Can't believe that overhead Cabal hit in the last game. There was seriously no reason for him to try and hit the felt off the ball when a simple smash would have sufficed.

Re: Australian Open Doubles Draw

And the Bryans win too, 6-3 7-5 Bracciali/Dlouhy blew a break in that second set, and saw Dlouhy get broken because of his piss-poor second serve at 5-5.

Re: Australian Open Doubles Draw

Semi-Finals
Bryan/Bryan [1] vs. Bolelli/Fognini (USA vs. ITA)
Granollers/Lopez [3] vs. Haase/Sijsling (ESP vs. NED)

When was the last time that all four teams in the SF were single country teams?

ITA vs. NED for the final

Re: Australian Open Doubles Draw

Wow, great result for Bolelli and Fogna after that first set ! wasn't able to watch any of it, but nice to read that Simone was playing good and coming up with the crisp volleys at important points.

You know? They are taking it very seriously, i'm sure they didn't feel the same way when they first begin to play together regularly, but as the positive results kept coming and also considering Bolelli's form at singles, their enthusiasm to perform as well as they can has been increasing a lot! What i'm trying to say is that, even if no one wants to lose, the circumstances (momentum at singles play, being the doubles pair for Davis Cup, etc) have enhanced their motivation considerably!

Hoping for the same as it is, on paper, the easiest scenario but, well, Haase and Sijsling have been on fire this week it seems and it's impossible to look past the Bryans.

Forza ragazzi!

Re: Australian Open Doubles Draw

6(of the 8) players in the SF have never been in a GS Final. No points for guessing which 6.

Yep, very seriously. And both teams were feeding off each other's hypermasculinity too, it seemed.

I'm hoping for a Mediterranean final now, with Marcel and Marc taking the title
