I wanted Kubot to lose today, so that he could play qualies in Valencia. His Masters participation is secured and Valencia could have been his last chance for TOP 100 in his career.
He most probably won't play singles this year anymore (he is 9th alternate for qualies in Paris) and in 3 weeks they will cut off his points from Helsinki 08.
We never know if Kubot can continue his good singles results in 2010.
If only he had won that match with Wawrinka... He would be TOP 100 right now
He was 2 points away from TOP 100!
Kubot still has 5 spots to fill in his countable tournaments. In other words - he will gain points in every tournament he starts till the end of the season (providing that he passes the 1st round). At least that is how I understand rankings. I believe that he will play both Bratislava and Salzburg. Both big challenger events with 17/18 points for a QF appearance. Since the difference between Top100 and Kubot's current position is ca. 30 points now - I believe that Top100 is still a reality, rather sooner than later (he has virtually no points to defend except final round of AO qualies till March).
Top100 is just a question of time imo and should be achieved until his points from Belgrade drop off. He just needs one solid run in some small ATP tournament / medium challenger or one round passed in AO and this should be it. Of course a lot will depend on other players as well, but Kubot has played relatively seldom.
But like Voo says - the priority should be AO direct entry (in 2009 the cutoff was #104 after withdrawals, so you can expect more or less the same this year)
