Congrats to the four teams!
Please, if I'd made any errors (likely), let me know, its tough to keep all these teams straight.
5th - 3670 points - Frantisek Cermak & Michal Mertinak
Grand Slams: AO R32, RG R32, W R32, USO R32
1000s: Indian Wells R32, Miami QF, Madrid QF, Cincinnati R32, Shanghai QF, Paris SF
Others: Vina del Mar F, Acapulco W, Stuttgart W, Umag W, Bucharest W, Moscow F, Valencia W
Cermak/Mertinak have had most of their success on clay; but have had a great finish on the indoors circuit. This includes a number of wins at MM tournaments; Acapulco, Umag and Stuttgart, along with the Vina del Mar final. They have only beaten one of the teams ranked above them this year, twice taking out Kubot/Marach.
6th - 3660 points - Lukasz Kubot & Oliver Marach
Grand Slams: AO SF, RG R32, W QF, USO R64
1000s: Indian Wells R16, Montreal QF, Cincinnati SF, Shanghai QF
Others: Acapulco F, Casablanca W, Belgrade W, Vienna W
They had a great start to the year, making the AO semis, beating Nestor/Zimonjic and Fyrstenberg/Matkowski along the way, but have fallen off somewhat since, especially in the larger events. They've played only three 1000s, which has somewhat limited their points potential, and lost to the Bryans twice on the US hardcourt swing, including after bagelling them in the first set in Cincy. They've made some real hay at smaller tournaments, getting 250 from the Casa Challenger and the Nole Open, as well as 300 from Mexico.
7th - 3550 points - Max Mirnyi & Andy Ram
Grand Slams: AO R32, RG R64, W R16, USO SF
1000s: Indian Wells F, Miami W, Rome QF, Madrid R32, Montreal F, Cincinnati R32, Shanghai R32
One of the better teams on US hardcourts, Mirnyi/Ram didn't do much over the middle of the season, but still have been good enough in 1000 series events to sit in a great position. Beat Nestor/Zimonjic in the USO Quarters, and have beaten the Bryans twice.
8th - 3335 points - Mariusz Fyrstenberg & Marcin Matkowski
Grand Slams: AO QF, RG R32, W R64, USO R64
1000s: Indian Wells QF, Miami R32, Monte Carlo QF, Rome QF, Madrid R32, Montreal QF, Cincinnati QF, Shanghai F
Others: Eastbourne W, Washington F, Kuala Lumpur W
The Polish duo are the only still-active team that played at last year's TMC that are on the outside looking in this time around. They haven't done much in the Grand Slams since the Australian, and don't have a lot of results in MM events, but have consistently manage to get the quarters in the Masters events, netting them a fair number of points. They've typically had good success during the indoor season, so they definitely could pass some teams at the close of the season.
