Re: Düsseldorf Entry List/Fact Sheet (updated April 6, 2010)

Is Spain eligible for this? Would be nice for some of the players not normally picked for Davis Cup (ie Almagro, Montanes) to play on the team competition. They could get Granollers and Marc Lopez for doubles!

Is it like a normal entry list? Or is it still possible for those players to change their mind and enter another event? I'm not sure how it works now with the event giving ATP points.

I'm wondering about Mahut in particular, it means he won't play the RG qualies?

As far as I know, there are no withdrawal penalties for individual players but I would guess that the remaining two team members wouldn't be thrilled to have to play all the singles & doubles matches without a third player to help out.

There's no rule preventing players from playing the main draw of one event (Dusseldorf) & the qualifying for the next week's event (Roland Garros), but considering the distance between the two tournaments it's unlikely a player would commute back & forth during the week. Maybe Mahut is expecting a main draw wild card for Roland Garros? Or he will play Sunday/Monday in Dusseldorf & then go to Roland Garros qualifying?

I'm sure if Mahut plays here they will give him a WC in Paris :yeah:

Go Aussies!

Thanks, you're right, the RG qualies count as qualifying for the next week's event, so it's just a practical problem. I was getting confused because I was thinking of it as two parallel events.

There's also a very unique situation w. Ginepri this week:

He lost in the final round of qualifying in Nice on Sunday & was headed to Paris to play Roland Garros qualifying starting Tuesday, but got into the main draw of Roland Garros right before the list closed on Monday. Instead of staying in Nice to sign in for a lucky loser spot (one spot opened up on Tuesday & either Anderson or Ginepri would have been ahead of Recouderc for it if they had signed in), he went to Dusseldorf to join the U.S. team & played singles on Tuesday. If he were to win a match there, he would earn points in two different events in the same week which normally isn't allowed.
