Rolling in Red Clay: Viktor Troicki Tournament Thread

It's time to start a new thread!!!!

As Jess pointed out in previous tournament thread, Monte Carlo is the first non-96-draw master event that Viktor has direct entry. A BIG step for Viktor!

Re: Rolling in Red Clay: Viktor Troicki Tournament Thread

Oh, oh, he's got a lil tough task in the 1st round against Wawrinka. The Swiss is ranked 13th in the world, so that's kind of unlucky draw for Viktor, as Wawrinka is not such a bad clay-courter at all. But still I believe it's winable.

Re: Rolling in Red Clay: Viktor Troicki Tournament Thread

Tough draw

Wawrinka has not had much luck at Monte Carlo in the past, so hopefully that continues He lost in first round in 2008 to Tommy Robredo in straight sets, didn't play in 2007, lost in first round in 2006 to Di Mauro in straight sets, and lost in the final round of qualifying in 2005 to Seppi.

SO, hopefully Viktor can take advantage of the adjustment from hard courts to clay
Ajde

Troicki - Djokovic - Del Potro - Kyrgios - Berankis
Cibulkova - Robson - Kirilenko - Azarenka

Troicki aims top 20 position

Viktor Troicki, one of the participants of the SERBIA OPEN 2009 tournament, has underlined that he aims to enter top 20 ATP players by the end of the year. The Serbian tennis player currently assumes the 36th position at the world ranking list, which is his career-best result. The objective of the Serbian national team player, whose matches will be enjoyed by all tennis lovers at the first Serbian ATP tournament at Dorcol, is to move forward and make a breakthrough among the top 20 tennis players in the world.

Top 20 I am glad he is setting goals like this though

Troicki - Djokovic - Del Potro - Kyrgios - Berankis
Cibulkova - Robson - Kirilenko - Azarenka
Retired but always loving Ferrero - Ancic - Kiefer

Men’s national team of Serbia in Dusseldorf

Immediately after the Serbia Open 2009 tournament in Belgrade, Serbian tennis players will continue preparing for Roland Garros, at the World Cup in Dussedorf, organised on May 17-25.
At the tournament where eight national teams will compete, Serbia will be represented by Viktor Troicki, Janko Tipsarevic and Nenad Zimonjic.
Eight national teams divided in two groups participate in the World Cup. Each match comprises two singles and one doubles matches, while the criterion for participation is the world ranking list.
In addition to Serbia, teams of Spain, France, Argentina, Russia (including Igor Andreev, a participant at the Serbia Open 2009 tournament), Germany, the USA, and Italy will compete in Dusseldorf. The eighth participant will get a wild-card.
For the first time after the disintegration of the SFRY, the Serbian national team will take part in this team competition for men. The national team of Yugoslavia won the World Cup in 1990, having beaten the USA with 3:0. Members of the then national team were Slobodan Zivojinovic, Goran Ivanisevic, and Goran Prpic.
Immediately after the Serbia Open 2009 tournament in Belgrade, Serbian tennis players will participate at the World Cup in Dussedorf.
