Right. Lunch time over. I'll go back to work and won't see the score until I see the match on my blu-ray at home.

Good luck, Kei!!!

What a fighter! Kei wins 4-6, 7-6, 7-6, and 6-3

Another battle won, great effort! Benneteau made Kei work hard for it.

Oh the next match is gonna be against Tsonga...I'm already nervous

Re: Australian 2012 Hard court season - Tearing it up at the Australian open

I tried to avoid learning the result till I get home, but it was impossible.

Well done, Kei!!
Would've liked to see an easier match but Benneteau is a fighter so I think Kei did a good job in the end.

This is the first time in 80 years since a Japanese male reached R4 at AO. (Jiro Sato was a semifinalist in 1932)
Hopefully Kei can replicate his results therer but Tsonga first. Good luck!!!

Should have been easier though. Wasted leads in the first and third sets

Re: Australian 2012 Hard court season - Tearing it up at the Australian open

Kimiko and Kei won R1 in mixed doubles in less than an hour, against the experienced pair Dulko and Schwank!
Maybe Dulko was tired after a long women's dub match earlier, still a good win for the debutant duo.
Probably it was a relaxing workout for Kei too.

He will play the second match on Hisense Arena tomorrow. Ganbatte!!

Re: Australian 2012 Hard court season - Tearing it up at the Australian open

I watched some of the mixed, stream was laggy so couldn't really enjoy it.
But I think Kei/Kimiko had a 5-2 lead in the first set, so they did quite well.

I honestly thought they would lose :P
Hope to see they next one!

But tomorrow will be the big match, all the best Kei.
