For me it was....i don't watch other men's matches that religiously compare to Kei's matches so i can't really compare. Thus i don't really get that same feeling of intensity and nervousness when i watched other matches. I just feel that it was so hard to watch (or in my case, lurk on the scoreboard) because Kei had to battle a lot of break points during that match. And you have the feeling that you don't want him to lose especially when he leads by two sets to none.

Go Air Kei!

Re: 2011 Australian Open!

Its going to be Florian Mayer in the 2nd round. He upsets Nikolay Davydenko.

What's your thought on this guys? Do you think Kei has a much more realistic chance of reaching the 3rd round now that he's opponent is Mayer and not Davydenko?

Go Air Kei!

Re: 2011 Australian Open!

great win for kei yesterday

i got to say, after fognini won that 3rd set i was afraid it was the start of a comeback but im happy kei closed it out

i dont like his chances against mayer at all though. He was down a break in to fognini more than once and mayer is much better than him.

i know kei beat him before but mayer was clearly not at his best..he's playing much better now

i wish kei the best but i just think mayer will have to much for him

I agree with misty that it will be a tough match not only because Flo Mayer plays non-textbook style tennis but also because he's playing very well lately and is on the verge of improving his career high ranking of #33.
It's actually a mystery why Mayer has never been ranked higher because he bas talent in abundance. Like Kei, he is also a former ATP Newcomer of The Year. They met only once, in R1 at Delray Beach in 2008, but Mayer retired in that match so it says nothing about their match payed when they are both fit.
But if both of them play to their potential I think it will be a very entertaining, high quality match.

Re: 2011 Australian Open!

Agreed. Should be a fun match

I think Mayer is the type of player that can be hit off court but when he has the time to set up points, he's really dangerous

Re: 2011 Australian Open!

Thank you guys, it was good to read the live score post here because I wasn't fortunate enough to get a day off...but I couldn't help it and sneaked peeks of the live stream at work Still missed most of the match, agree with lots of posters here about Fog's poor attitude and I also thought Kei should've won in straights!

And now against Mayer, a big big challenge, and an even bigger question mark in my head on whether Kei have upped his game enough to take out Mayer. I'm leaning towards what misty1 said :-(

Hope Kei can prove me wrong!

Re: 2011 Australian Open!

Hi guys!
Sorry I've been watching the match from the beginning but I had to restart PC.

2-2, Mayer serving.
Kei has 0-40 on Mayer's serve in Game 3, but the German held.

Now. brilliant pass by Kei, 30-30...but Kei's FH dtl just wide. 40-30

Mayer holds.
