Re: Kei's news thread

Kei has received one of 5 WCs for IW, alongside Blake, Raonic, Harrison and Tomic.
Right now Kei is #2 on the alternate list so it's possible he may not need WC to enter MD. Still it's nice to know he has secured entry!

Re: Kei's news thread

There have been two more withdrawals from the IW main drew so Kei can now enter the draw directly, without WC.

Re: Kei's news thread

Hello bunny, I hope you're alright and everybody else in Japan for that matter.

Kei is on the entry list for Miami, I really hope he can pick up his spirit.
I think it'll be positive for himself, his team and supporters if he can soldier on, as difficult as it is for him I hope he's not too discouraged.

It's not just about winning, it's living and tennis is a big part in his life.

Re: Kei's news thread

Kei, Djokovic, and other tennis stars will join a fundraising event in Miami on March 23. They will play a soccer match and then join dinner with guests:

http://www.gr8miami.com/hotspots_gr8_miami_event.html

Also, Kei is working with the Red Cross in an fundraising efforts for Japan. There is a link to the Red Cross on his facebook. (http://www.facebook.com/keinishikori)

Kei has also set up the Kei Nishikori Charitable Fund. Here's a link to a charity auction, with donatoins from many players.

The situation is still very unnerving here in Japan. More than 20,000 people are either dead or missing, and tens of thousands of people still live in shelters, many without heating (the worst affected areas are all in the northeastern Japan, which is very cold---it snowed last week.)
And the nuclear plant debacles---radiation levels in Tokyo is on the whole still low, but you'll never know what will happen. It's been very scary and stressful. Hope things will turn for the better soon...

Re: Kei's news thread

bunny, it's good to hear from you. Our prayers are with you and everyone affected by this, thanks for posting these information. Hopefully everyone can do their part, big or small to give aid to where it's needed most.

I know there're a few other posters that I think are either living in Japan or Japanese...I think kinokino is also from Japan and hope the best to him/her.

Not sure how Kei is right now, but I'm sure there're a lot of things on his mind...Gambette Kei

Hello! I'm good, now. Thank you, chewy. I'm "her"!
I'm just worried my old office building in Tokyo might collapse.
We are very grateful for the medical and rescue supports from around the world.

This charity match sounds fun! I wanna see their play.

Re: Kei's news thread

The charity soccer match is over. Apparently there was live streaming on the soccer team's site but I couldn't watch it because it just coincided with my commuting time (again!).

There are some pics on Twitterpics (by Hide Sakamoto, Brad Gilbert, GWtennis, Monaco, Djokovic.).

Re: Kei's news thread

From the Miami players' party:

http://www.sonyericssonopen.com/News...ers-Party.aspx

Japan’s Kei Nishikori discussed the overwhelming support he’s received from fellow players and fans and the upcoming fundraisers planned to raise money for tsunami relief efforts. “It’s a tough situation. I’m so thankful for all the support that’s been going around,” expressed the 21 year old Japanese player. “If I can do something to help and give hope and happiness to the people in Japan, it’s all worth it.”
