Great to see Jo off to a good start. Stak can be a tricky opponent.

I was a bit worried about that match, thought there was some upset potential there, but 3-0 is a nice to result to wake up too.

Shall have to try catch some highlights of it or something

Great start! Big-serving Dent next. Just hold serve no matter what, and seek a breakthrough. Good luck!

Re: Let's kick off 2010! :)

Very up and down match. Felt like he was struggling to find his range in the first couple of sets. But, 3rd set was pretty good. There was a great down the line backhand passer, a fun net point that got many replays, a couple of awesome volley winners and the highlight, a terrific backhand slice winner. He served much better too by then.

Match stats.

I'm worried about Taylor Dent though. He serves big. They have very similar games. And never having played a 5 set match can come to bite him. But Jo's a lot healthier and fitter than Taylor. Hoping he remains calm and works his way through.

good win jo! scared about the Dent encounter but I have a feeling he'll manage. I like Dent a lot, too. his serve is amazing. could be a fine volley-fest. I hope it's at a reasonable hour for me this match.
good luck!

oh my, on a second thought, what if it goes to 5 sets? Dent could last forever on court but Jo? that's right, we don't know! it better not go to 5 sets. He must figure out a way to beat him in 3 or 4.

Preferably in 3.

I don't want to jinx him like against Karlo so I'm not making any predictions, but I have to say Jo loves AO and Aussies love Jo, which is in itself a boon

Re: Aussie Summer '10 : AO 2nd Round versus Taylor Dent

I couldn't even see him play today So I hope to be able to catch his match against Dent. Honestly, I wouldn't have a clue what kind of game Dent has. I have never really seen him play. Just hope he'll win

Re: Aussie Summer '10 : AO 2nd Round versus Taylor Dent

Dent's game is pretty cool, often serve & volley, big hitter, not completely different from Jo's (but with a lot less class, of course ) It should be interesting, if Jo doesn't get frustrated on big serves.

I hope we're not getting a match like the one against Karlovic at Wimbledon Jo doesn't do too well against big servers.

Re: Aussie Summer '10 : AO 2nd Round versus Taylor Dent

No, just no, guys.
Dent is a very good and complete player, but not a tall server like Isner, Karlo or the gooch (he is 1m87). I don't see why Jo should have any particuliar problem with his serve. At least not more than against Djokovic, la monf, Haas or stepanek, all of them have excellent serves too and Jo has beaten them by the past.
The key point will be the passing shots of course, which wasn't that great during his first match.
He said he was heating up for the second week. I don't expect a great match, but I think he will win, whatever the number of sets needed.

Good luck Jo !

Jo talks about his 1st round win and about Dent here. Google translator is very confusing. Can someone please translate this article? Thanks a lot!

I hope this holds true; I'm a little nervy about the match because of the Dent serve, and because of the fact he's not the type of player you get to face every day. Jo should win it of course, but there's just that little bit of worry lurking heh.

Hey, I like the way you think . It's true, Jo particularly had trouble with giants' serve. It's just that Dent serves really fast. But he comes to the net all the time. so he is passable. this blake-del potro match is killing me by te way.
