Alves, to his credit, had other plans and played a really good first set. Jo, on the other hand, was a little over-exuberant at first, serving aces followed by double faults, leading to low first serve percentage.
He got his rhythm going in full flow in the second set, and the crowd was duly entertained. The powerful forehands, followed by sublime drop shots are a joy to behold.
