There are also news on his website (he posed for some magazine, "L'Officiel des hommes") and an interview of Wino with more details:
He will do this rehab until mid July and if everything goes well, he will start playing again then. Right now, he can only swim. Next week, he will be allowed to do some cycling. Etc. It takes one full month until he can start training again.
When he was injured in the past, it was actually tougher for him because he was not sure he would ever be able to play again! The only thing he has to do this time is to be patient and to take the rehab very seriously. If he does it, he's almost sure to be back on the tour until the end of the summer. He also won't have to start from the scratch again (= go through Futures again, etc.) because that's really discouraging. And he now knows that he is able to compete with the top players. All this makes it much easier for him, even though it's always tough not to be able to play and to improve during that time, of course.
It would be better to play on clay after a knee injury, but he'll have to play on hard. They'll just start practicing again on clay for a while. They won't take any risks anyway and won't rush his comeback.
Jo badly wanted to play RG, that's why they tried the option without surgery.
Jo is in good spirits atm and takes advantage of that break to do things he couldn't do otherwise.
