Re: 2017 Season SCHEDULE & CHEERING (Post 1 Schedule)

Sydney starts on Jan 1st. Here's Gilles quarter of the draw. Not easy as he's facing Seed 6 Lucas Pouille

Pouille vs Simon
Edmund vs Qualifier
Troicki vs Qualifier
Bye - Wawrinka

Gilles' also playing double with Stephane Robert. They will face their first opponent today Jan 1st.
Show Court 2 last match:
Steve Johnson/Diego Schwartzman vs Stephane Robert/Gilles Simon

Gilles' draw in AO, the bottom half.

His opening round opponent is Mmoh, a WC. The first 2 rounds seem winnable. But who know which of him shows up. Hope he has a good tournament. Allez Gilles.

Re: 2017 Season SCHEDULE & CHEERING (Post 1 Schedule)

Gilles has taken advantage of his nice draw to win his opening two matches without dropping a set. Hopefully that will give him some confidence for a very tough R3 match against Raonic.

He looked pretty good in 1st 2 matches. Aggressive and his serve wasn't shit like last year. + he was going to net a lot.
Hope he beats Botnic. I will probably miss that match, but he needs to be clutch. Queens 15 was amazing

on the other hand he faced two opponents who didn't pressure him so he could go for his shots freely without thinking of the consequences of making errors.

Raonic will offer a totally different proposition so he has to adapt, return very well which is very difficult for that serve and hitting deep and well to prevent Raonic from attacking easily by making him move and uncomfortable.
Also Raonic has improved his movement and abilily to rally since 2014 or so, so it will be very difficult and Raonic is the huge favorite to me.

Draw from hell for Gillou. He won very tough match vs Mahut today. Though if he beats Zverev/Thiem, QF will be much easier.

Simon has the winner of Struff vs Bedene, first up in Miami. Hope he's fully refreshed in both mind and body, after missing Indian Wells. A potential first meeting with Nishikori. Amazing that they haven't faced one another yet.

Re: 2017 Season SCHEDULE & CHEERING (Post 1 Schedule)

Gilles' early round draw in RG:

Simon vs Basilashvili
Troicki vs Donskoy

Haase vs De Minaur
Paire vs Nadal

So if he can win 2 rounds, he gets to play Rafa. Allez Gilles.

Re: 2017 Season SCHEDULE & CHEERING (Post 1 Schedule)

Well, it's been an abysmal season, even worse than than 2016. His record to date for 2017 is a meager 10 wins to 16 losses. Hope the Hard-court season is good to him, but I won't hold my breathe. Scheduled to play Hamburg next week.

Things are looking very grim for Simon. Nothing seems to be working out, he looks bored out there, lackadaisical, no intensity. His once godly anticipation, now seemingly gone. The footwork has taken a huge hit. The serve is a joke, ball toss all over the place (far more often than it used to be), no aggression in his game at all, these things haven't just appeared... They've been in his game for sometime now. I truly wonder if 2017 will be his final season.

You guys hear about his interview after the loss to Thiem? He said he's working on his continuing mental block and that is very difficult for him to play completely relaxed on court. He said that he tries to manage the situation or this is the end.
