Re: 2014, Season Down Under

This is depressing news, but finally the right decision made by Gilles. He shouldn't play while he's injured at 250/500 events, he has enough titles. If he wants to peak for the Masters and Slams as he says, he needs to be healthy.

Depressing. Wondering what he can do from this point on to get himself healthy, at least for a longer stretch than a few days.

Re: 2014, Season Down Under

Man, it's starting to feel hopeless. Like it may be the beginning of the end. By that I mean either he will be fed up with the injuries and decide to just hang it up and be with his kids or he won't but the injuries will keep coming and prevent him from really being able to make decent runs anywhere again. I hope not, but the thought is definitely there with me. Speedy recovery Gilles!

Sad news, hopefully he'll recover just in time for IW.

Finally a thoughtful decision. OK depressing as it is lets try to remain optimistic! So who's going to change the title of this thread? How disheartening to see Gilles and down in the same sentence every time you log in! So out with the old in with the new top 5 Gilles ))

Right sorry, forgot to change title as the season goes along.

I wanted to change it to "Season, Up In The Air"...probably not a good idea but it's kind of appropriate, don't you think

Re: 2014, Season at the Americas!

A win 6-1, 6-2. I'm not getting my hopes up that he can stay healthy but it's nice to get a routine win for once.

Re: 2014, Season at the Americas!

Another straight set win for Gilles. Murray next so the run is likely over but it's nice to see him winning comfortably and hopefully playing well.

Re: 2014, Season at the Americas!

It's quite possible that he still has back problems as he served 69 % of first serves (very unusual stat for him, it's rather around 55% usually) and only 63% of points won behind them- not very good. (maybe he only hit "second" serves).

EDIT: it's more or less confirmed here:

Re: 2014, Season at the Americas!

Team Simon/Chardy forfeited their double match. Not a good sign.
