Re: 2013 Spring European Clay Season, Allez!

Raonic has taken a wildcard to Eastbourne so he's no longer the top seed.

Re: 2013 Grass Season, Allez!

His draw in Eastbourne.

Andreas Seppi [7] - Qualifier
Paul-Henri Mathieu - Qualifier
Radek Stepanek - Marinko Matosevic
Philipp Kohlschreiber [3] - Bye

Kevin Anderson [5] - Julien Benneteau
James Ward [WC] - Bernard Tomic
Kyle Edmund [WC] - Qualifier
Gilles Simon [2] - Bye

Quarter will be real tough, not sure if he can pass. Allez Gilles.

Re: 2013 Grass Season, Allez!

Way to the QF's seems Ok ( though Gilles sometimes struggles when he's given a bye on R1), and then either Anderson ( not so much his game but his serve), Benny or even Tomic on his current state are more accomplished players in grass, plus the clay-grass transition won't be easy for Gilles. But if he serves well I think he can make it, the key for him on all surfaces, but much more on grass is to serve well so he isn't too pressured on his won service games when facing players who serve big ( getting tight when serving in the crucial stages of sets killed him in the last 2 Wimbledons, vs Delpo and Malisse).

Gilles Simon
Benoît Paire, Edouard Roger-Vasselin,Nicolas Mahut, Jeremy Chardy, Aljaz Bedene, Florian Mayer, Tommy Robredo, Evgeny Korolev, Albert Ramos, Guillaume Rufin

Re: 2013 Grass Season, Allez!

Hmmm. Well, once again my feelings on his draw are that it could be really good if he's playing well or really bad if he's playing mediocrely or just plain bad. The good news is that out of all those big servers of Benny, Tomic and Anderson, he'll only have to face one, probably Anderson if I had to guess based on recent form of all those guys and if he plays smart, aggressive and patiently (i.e. not going against his playstyle and trying to rip winners within the first few swings of the racket leading to a lot of easy unforced errors) he has a chance to beat Anderson and then more than likely Kohlschreiber would be his semifinal opponent which would also be a winnable match for him so he's got a shot, even if it's a small one, of getting to the final.

Course let's not forget that Gilles can lose to anybody no matter how much of a nobody they might be if he's not in the right mood at the start of a tournament, so let's not look past local WC Kyle Edmund. He could be the one who takes Gilles out instead making everything moot. We'll see. Good luck Gillou!

Re: 2013 Grass Season, Allez!

OH NO! Please let there be no real damage and it's just a slight sprain or even just more of a scare he got from a slight ankle roll. I guess we'll find out real soon whether or not he pulls out or not. Neil also revealed that Gilles said his back is acting up today too which may have been why he rolled his ankle cause he wasn't able to move fluidly on the grass from his back seizing up like it does out of the blue. Man I hope even if he pulls out that it's just a scare and something he'll recover from in a week or so so he won't have to miss Wimbledon.

I really hope he can make it to Wimbledon, twisting ankles get healed in 2/3 days or a week top, I'm more concerned about him getting his back seized up again

Re: 2013 Grass Season, Allez!

Oh no, please pull out of Eastbourne and rest so you can try to give it a go at Wimbledon. This is terrible news, hopefully it's not too bad.

I don't know for sure but my guess is he was in Queens because his coach was there with Nieminen so they probably decided to enter doubles last minute.

Re: 2013 Grass Season, Allez!

Tendon damage to his left knee? Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oo!

Back seizing up or ankle rolled are small problems, but please not the knee!
Gosh, I'm okay if he pull out of Wimby too if he has to, just makes sure he doesn't get a major injury.

PS.

Okay, I thought I read left knee, but it's left leg. Panic for nothing. But any tendon damage is not good. Just get better Gilles.
