I'm so glad Gilles was able to overcome his nerves and usual early match jitters. We just read that article talking about how he's usually a slow starter and it takes him awhile to get his teeth in the match. That obviously what happened here today. Once Gilles woke up at 4-4 in the third set he was untouchable for the rest of the match until the end which was mainly due to some unlucky happenings like the broken string on match point 2nd serve return and two net chords from Hewitt as well. Then he admittedly started getting tight, but he came good in the end and it was touching seeing him give his momma some flowers for Mother's Day. Well done Gilles.
I'd say please make it easier on us next round but, unfortunately, I know better than that.
