Re: 2013 Spring European Clay Season, Allez!

Oh Gilles you are breaking my heart. I can't do this anymore. I'm just going to have to cheer with no expectations or belief that he will win a title again until/if he actually does. It just hurts too much when I do get my hopes up and then something like this happens out of nowhere. I give up.

Re: 2013 Spring European Clay Season, Allez!

Decent draw for Gilles at RG this year until the Round of 16: he draws Hewitt on first round, Mannarino/Cuevas on Rd2, Querrey or Lacko on Rd3 and then Federer.
The good news for him is that he avoid consistent claycourt grinders like Berlocq and Andujar in first rounds (maybe Cuevas but he's out of form), his potential match Vs Querrey could be interesting but i think he can eventually outlast him on clay at RG.

Agreed, I hate to jinx him but really it would be inexcusable if he didn't make the fourth round.

Re: 2013 Spring European Clay Season, Allez!

Gilles is 0-2 against Mannarino, do we concern about it? Well, we'll see if he will get to play Adrian. Otherwise R3 is almost as good as it gets (trying to not jinx him, but it's hard to ignore this R3 fact, that's if Querrey gets there). Hope he doesn't find a way to lose in the first 3 rounds. Allez Gilles. Allez!

Re: 2013 Spring European Clay Season, Allez!

I'll be a bit concerned if he draws Mannarino on R2, Adrian hasn't been that bad this year ( won 2 or 3 CH's), and has a 2-0 H2H vs Gilles. But Querrey for R3 seems perfect to me.

Re: 2013 Spring European Clay Season, Allez!

Well, set and a break down, nothing working for him, he's having few pace on his groundies, serving bad, forehand spraying, Hewitt outlasting him on long rallies...

So bad. I can't bear to watch.
Before the coach, he was playing badly but win, after the coach, he's now playing badly and can't win. I'm sure it's my kneejerk reaction but I just really want to ask what have De Witt done for him lately .

Re: 2013 Spring European Clay Season, Allez!

2 breaks down in the 2nd set. So he goes down 2 sets, never comes back from that before and he's not playing Harrison anymore, so Hewitt's not gonna choke like that little kid. *sigh*. RG's over before it starts.

I think its way too soon to decide about the coach. He hasn't even taken a short time out to do something. "Luckily" he will have it now. Anyway, expected result, he's in the worst slump of his career, not a very realistic thought he would miraculously bounce out of it on RG of all places. Well see in the hardcourt season where he stands with his game

Getting thrashed by a guy who you have beaten 3 times without losing a set and playing on his less favourite surface Looks like RG will be over for him.

Yes, probably so. But I'm so pissed that I need to be mad at the coach too. Pissed at Gilles is not enough for this massive fail.

Really? you expect Hewitt to win before the play starts? Well, I guess you know better than, because I certainly didn't.

Well, anyway, sorry if I sounded angry, because I am.

Pity he's struggling with his game when he looks so awesome! Up a break in the 3rd. Allez!

Indeed you did, saying he should skip RG. Okay, I just still don't agree, even seeing this mess happening.

Indifference is hard to achieve, not in a slam anyway. I can write him off, but I do it grudgingly.
