From what I gather, Chardy's coach is a childhood friend of Gilles so it was awkward for them but my French is horrible.

True. I'll cut him some slack. He can be excused even now for not really having much style for his hair cut. I read somewhere he turned down endorsement of Head & Shoulder, which is a pity cos they may be able to force him to at least manage hair style a little bit consistently. Also a pity because he has great thick hair, great for hair commercial .

Anyway, back to tennis, he and Mika lost their double 2-6, 6-2, 9-11 to Zeballos/Monaco. They were supposed to play Lipsky/Gonzalez but the Argi played instead. Anyway, pity, they were so close and I felt bad for Mika.

Didn't Richie start balding after signing with Head & Shoulders? And the commercial they made with him didn't even have an in-the-shower shot.

I don't. That pairing looks too much like a PR move from Llodra in connection with his ongoing feud with Paire (who re-stated after the attempted conciliation by Clément that he still "won't talk to Llodra ever again" ^^).

That's a pretty good result for Gilles in doubles winning a set

Gilles is the night match tomorrow, allez!

Gilles on centre court tomorrow at 9.30 pm. I will watch him live for the 1st time, shame it's vs Andy, but it's great to see him anyways.

That should got nothing to do with the shampoo, I hope. My dad uses H&S, he still has a full head of hair .

Oh, bummer. But I'll laugh all day if I see a commercial with Ritchie in a shower scene, I mean, it'll be awkward. I laugh rather hard at the new H&S commercials with the footballers, hilarious.

Really? But what's Mika/Paire's feud got to do with Gilles? Here I felt bad for Mika cos I assumed Gilles' not much a double player. But if he was just using Gilles to get to Paire, then I suppose I shouldn't feel bad for him then.

Re: 2013 Spring European Clay Season, Allez!

Llodra justified his disgusting attitude by claiming that Paire was also trying to influence the umpire in the Simon/Paire match in IW, although Gilles never said anything about it (because it wasn't true). Playing double together might be seen as an implicit back up of Llodra's claim though.

Re: 2013 Spring European Clay Season, Allez!

I see. Well, I hope Paire doesn't pay attention to any of Mika's antic anymore. But I thought it's a pairing for convenience though. Mika doesn't seem to have a usual partner now, Benny's been teeming with someone else and have success recently. It could be Mika just need a high ranking guy to get into the draw. But anyway, I think Gilles is closer to Paire than to Mika anyway. I'm sure Mika's "I'm the veteran" attitude has also been imposed on Gilles before. I don't think Mika gets along much with the younger guys than his generation, but that's just a feeling.

Re: 2013 Spring European Clay Season, Allez!

I wouldn't go reading too much into Gilles and Llodra playing doubles together in regards to the whole Paire debacle. I mean Gilles and Llodra are both French and daddies after all. It would make sense for them to have a different kind of relatability compared to the other French players. Besides, Gilles doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who would hold a grudge or be the way Llodra is. Llodra probably just asked Gilles if he wanted to play doubles with him this week and Gilles said yeah sure why not. Llodra must have sensed how bad Benny was going to suck this week and thought even Gilles would be a better doubles partner this time around lol.

Re: 2013 Spring European Clay Season, Allez!

Yeah, I just don't think Gilles cares who he plays with. I think he just plays doubles to pick up a paycheck and get a little bit of practice in. He played with Paire in February and has played with basically every French player at least once or twice so I don't think it means anything.

Re: 2013 Spring European Clay Season, Allez!

Benny maybe sucking in single, but not double. He won MC with Zimonjic beating the Bryans, although they did lose first round here. Benny/Zimonjic were on the original entry list for Madrid. Mika and Gilles were on-site sign up. But anyway, it's fun to wonder why player team up with Gilles, but I think most of the time it's a matter of convenience. His high ranking in single helps for entering too.
