Re: 2013 Spring European Clay Season, Allez!

I just read on twitter that Gilles' new coach is Jan De Witt, that he's also Jarkko Nieminen's coach. I don't know this guy and i'm not even sure this news is true.

So De Witt it is. He used to coach Viktor Troicki, well, that doesn't really inject confidence . But I should refrain to be prejudice on anyone. We'll see how it goes. Good luck Gilles.

I was hoping that he'll get Pioline to be his coach, no particular reason besides that fact that I like Pioline. Oh Well.

I don't like coaches sharing players, but, oh well, better share it with Nemo, who seems like a really nice guy. I like the fact that both seem really interested, and Gilles actually mentions that De Witt is the one who believes the most on him. I would have loved him to hire Escude, or even Tutu back, but I think he needs a new perspective, outside of France.

Re: 2013 Spring European Clay Season, Allez!

Hmmmmmmm. Jarkko has been on a bit of an upswing as of late. Whether that has anything to do with De Witt is anybody's guess. It'll be interesting to see how/if Gilles' game tactics start to change a few months from now and see exactly what kind of approach De Witt is going to take with Gilles. Hope he can make something click.

So De Witt is a FFT guy? in what capacity? I mean, is he like those in-house coach like Tutu?
I look him up a bit, not much can find, at one point, he's coaching Troicki, Chiudinelli and Nieminen at the same time. Okay. So he doesn't like to be exclusive.

I see.
So Gilles' not as predictable as you think.

Okay, Gilles is not on entry list of Halle or Queen's. So he's not playing grass tune-up for Wimby . I wonder why. Does anyone think what I'm thinking .

Re: 2013 Spring European Clay Season, Allez!

Madrid draw is out. DelPo w/d, so Gilles is seeded afterall. Not that it help much

Murray - Bye
Bellucci - Mayer
Chardy - Zeballos
Benneteau - Simon

Tipsarevic - Monaco
Anderson - Q
Janoqicz - Querrey
Bye - Berdych

I like to think he can beat Benneteau on clay, but who knows anymore. The only sure thing is, if he made it to R3, he won't go further. Oh well. Allez Gilles. Can't wait to see him under the new coach.

Benny's been playing quite bad lately, but so is Gilles, and he struggles so much vs fellow frenchman, so I'm guessing it won't be straightforward even if he wins, and then Zeballos or Chardy are two dangerous players which can blow Gilles off the court if they are on, so at least IMO, the draw is really bad, specially considering Gilles current state of play.

Will he start his colaboration with De Witt here?

Gilles Simon
Benoît Paire, Edouard Roger-Vasselin,Nicolas Mahut, Jeremy Chardy, Aljaz Bedene, Florian Mayer, Tommy Robredo, Evgeny Korolev, Albert Ramos, Guillaume Rufin

Re: 2013 Spring European Clay Season, Allez!

With this rough draw, I think the important thing is just to see some improvements to his game because it doesn't look like he'll go far. The good news is the worst of his big points coming off is over. He really has very little to defend until Paris at the end of the year.

Well the draw would have been just as bad in any other position.

Gilles plays tomorrow, on Arantxa Sanchez Vicario in the 4th turn, but being a Sunday I doubt there will be a stream. Allez!

Re: 2013 Spring European Clay Season, Allez!

Gilles teaming with Mika for double

(4)Qureshi/Rojer (PAK/NED) vs Bye
Melo/Youzhny (BRA/RUS) vs Chardy/Kubot (FRA/POL)
Llodra/Simon (FRA) vs Gonzalez/Lipsky (MEX/USA)
Bye vs (6)Bhupathi/Bopanna (IND)

What happened to Mika's usual partner. Well, at least Gilles doesn't need to play against Mika. When you can't beat him, join him
