Well, me too, not too big on DC. I can’t cheer for anyone just because of the flag on their shirts, it is always the person that I care for that I cheer for. That’s why NBC has to produce those cheesy athlete profile pieces in their Olympics coverage, knowing that ppl care more if you know the athlete as a person, not just a random countryman.

Let’s hope what doesn’t kill him makes him stronger. I think he will. He grew up hearing ppl telling him that he wouldn’t made it to pro tennis, then when he made it, ppl told him he wouldn’t go far, he went far, then ppl told him he wouldn’t make it to the top, he made to 6. I think that’s why he’s so stubborn on DC, and I don’t think he’ll back down on DC as long as they let him in. I have no belief in him for DC, but I have as much belief as I ever have in him that the best is yet to come (once he sort out his physical, and his serve). I think he has the mind to push himself to keep wanting more. Okay, maybe he won’t make it back up to Top 6, but I think a significant title is still possible.

You must indeed be a masochist lala to have that as your avatar pic. That's brutal. I hope you change it sooner rather than later. Every time I see it now it takes me back to that horrible moment.

It's great photography, the beautiful orange clay background and the sadness is so captivating.

But I'll change it if that bothers anyone.

Thank you I really appreciate it. That was the toughest moment as a Gilles Simon fan i've ever had to go through so I'm definitely ready to put it behind me.

No chance at SF but his draw before that is rather easy. He should make the QF if he's playing at an ok level.

lol Yannick Noah said Gilles is too sensitive to play Davis Cup and that Gasquet should have played instead of him (i tend to agree though).

Gilles is playing double with Youzhny. I was laughing so hard seeing this pair-up. Youzhny is a very good double player. He's prob just using Gilles for his single ranking.

Whatever does that mean? Did he elaborate?

I thought he was going to play with ERV. Hope Misha doesn't get too angry when Gilles loses them points . Maybe the Colonel can whip Gilles into decent double form . They play the night match on Center Court tomorrow, too bad there won't be any stream.

It's never easy to repeat a SF performance in ATP1000, so I'm not expecting that. And seeing it's Rafa in QF, there's no hope. I suppose the early draw looks very winnable, but I normally don't like to see F. Mayer on his path, he hates playing Mayer, too funky for him. I hope he'll be fine to get to QF. Allez!

Gilles & Youzhny , nice pair. About the draw, I think a QF is manageable, but I think he will be a bit down because of DC, anyway, we'll see.

Man I really hope Gilles can come good here and make something happen and at least get to the QF. We need something good to happen now again after how bad it's been this past long week. If he turns around and loses in the first round he'll lose a ton of points and it'll just be a continuation of the pile on of negativity that we've all already been enduring and I sure don't want that so c'mon Gilles. It's time to rebound and move forward.

What a depressing draw. The one time you'd actually prefer him on Murray quarter and he gets Nadal. Hoping for a non fatal stomach virus refaelito

[QUOTE=lalaland;14617522]Whatever does that mean? Did he elaborate?

He said that Davis Cup is a difficult test for him as he's a sensitive player but that at least he has the courage to play despite his difficulties (he seems to mean "unlike Gasquet" lol) so he regrets that Gasquet didn't play the Davis Cup tie.

Re: 2013 Spring European Clay Season, Allez!

Well Gilles won his opening doubles match with Youzhny which means he is just as dominant over Tipsy in doubles as he is in singles.

Simon/Youzhny won beating Tipsy/Kubot 6-7(4), 6-3, 10-7 They led 4-0 in first set but losed in TB. Tipsy can't beat Gilles even in double
