Re: 2013 Winter European Indoors, Allez!

Damn, I just don't know what to say anymore. I'm feeling defeated, just when I started to feel hopefully, there, it's gone.

And I hate to admit, I love watching him playing injured, he's far more creative when he's hurt .
But I hate that he's hurt again, really really sucks. I don't think he can win this one, Benny is far too good today.

Another brilliant game from Gillou , he saved a BP with a 2nd serve Ace, and then made an amzaing BH after an incrdible rally.

A third set won't be good for either of them. Delpo never got broken this tournament.

This app sig drives me nuts

Okay, if he can get it to 3rd set, the heat rubs and the painkiller should be kicked in by then. Maybe he'll have a chance. C'mon Gilles. We know you can do it. Allez.

Everybody say a prayer to the good luck gods that Gilles finds away to either break Julien here or pull out the tiebreak.

TB coming. He gets no lee way into Benny's serve and he has to fight a lot of bps on his own serve. TB is not looking good. But hey, at least getting there is good.

Well on a positive note, our commentator is the first nice and funny one this tournament.
I really don't know what else to say, I want Benny to win and Gilles not to lose. Can't they plant a bomb somewhere like during that final years ago? Give Delpo a partner and make it a doubles.

Well, that's it then. Deserving win for Benny though, injury or not.

Re: 2013 Winter European Indoors, Allez!

Some promising signs in this match but then of course, the unfortunate injury. I don't think it's too serious though so I think he'll play next week with no problems, just looked like a slight muscle pull to me. Anyway, good to get 180 points this week.

Re: 2013 Winter European Indoors, Allez!

Well. I don't know how I really feel about this week. On the one hand, Gilles made it to the semifinals of a 500 tier event. But I know it's only because his draw opened up and became super easy. The moment he had to face a tough player, in this case Julien, he lost so I imagine if the draw had held up, he might have lost to Granollers or definitely Tsonga in the quarters, so it's a bit misleading to feel good about this week.

He's definitely still struggling mentally and the increasing physical problems that end up happening during the tournaments is growing increasingly frustrating. I really think Gilles is at a crossroads right now and he's either going to right the ship and maintain or even get back close to the top 10 (i.e 11 or 12) or he's going to start going south. I hope he can figure it out and remember that he can actually play decent tennis when he actually get's out of his own way and let's himself.

Re: 2013 Winter European Indoors, Allez!

Good match from Gilles and good fight. One would wonder what would have happened if he hadn't got the injury at 3-0 up in the 3rd.

Re: 2013 Winter European Indoors, Allez!

Marseille's draw:

Tomas Berdych [1]*- Bye
Jarkko Nieminen - Ernests Gulbis [WC]
Julien Benneteau - Lucas Pouille [WC]
Jerzy Janowicz [7]*- Lukas Rosol

Janko Tipsarevic [4]*- Bye*
Qualifier - Qualifier
Marcel Granollers - Gael Monfils [WC]
Richard Gasquet [5]*- Gilles Muller*

Martin Klizan [8]*- Bernard Tomic
Benoit Paire - Somdev Devvarman
Nikolay Davydenko - Qualifier
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga [3]*- Bye*

Gilles Simon [6]*- Robin Haase*
Roberto Bautista Agut - Qualifier
Michael Llodra - David Goffin
Juan Martin Del Potro [2]*- Bye

He shouldn't need to play until Wed. So his leg problem, if it's not serious, should be clear up by then. The commentators seem to think that the leg is due to strain that accumulated from last nite's match, if that's the case it should not be too serious. But anyway, we'll find out soon. Good luck next week.

Re: 2013 Winter European Indoors, Allez!

We'd have taken a semi-final at the beginning of the week, and with the physical problems still there, this can be considered as a successful week.

I just hope he's over his injuries by Indian Wells because that event (and Miami) suits him down to the ground!
