I think I may have to cheer for Roddick to last in this tournament.

Yeah I know. This is why I worry about Gilles. I know he's only 27 going on 28 and he's got I would think a few good years left at the least, but you just never know. Now that he's got a kid, stuff like that can change the way you initially felt before you had a kid in the picture and with more injuries coming more often now, who knows when he will say it is enough.

I also think we may be seeing the last of Hewitt, Ferrero and Davydenko this year as well which is sad because these are some of the guys, along with Safin who already pulled the plug, that I really enjoyed watching before Simon was even in the picture and now they are transitioning to the next stages of their lives and it makes me get all worried about how much longer I get to enjoy Simon.

Broken right away in Set 2, typical.

Wang definitely up the ante in Set 2, and Gilles having a low in energy... down 0-3 in Set 2.

Wang's standing inside the baseline hitting his groundy. Gilles need to hit deeper to force him back, but he's not getting his shots deep enough, or at all.

And Wang gets the break right back. Here we go again.

Well it looks like it's about to be tied a set a piece. I was really hoping that Gilles would be able to find away to win this match in straight sets since Fish had to play a long 5 setter earlier today, but it looks like this will probably be another long match that goes the distance. Even if Gilles manages to win, he's not going to have anything left against Fish after two possible five setters in a row.

Can't even concentrate right now. Favourite player has announced retirement and i can't believe it.

I'm so so gutted I can't put it into words

Supported him for 8 years. Never been through one of my favourites retiring, never going to see him on court again. I got to meet him last month and see him play, kind of makes it a little bit easier to take.

Sorry lalaland but I hate to see you call a player reitring 'giving up'. Roddick has had an unbelievable career.

Dimitrov • Mahut • Paire • Hewitt • Raonic • Berdych • Gulbis • Murray

Thanks for the memories... Andy Roddick.

Gilles

It's just unbelievable how predictable he is. I know he doesn't have a serve but still can't hold serve after breaking.

Sorry, no disrespect meant, I could have said didn't think he'll hang it up (give it up, not meaning giving up). I never like Roddick, but I have said it on MTF many times that I respect his achievement, especially the fact that he was in Top 10 for however many years he has been. IT's pretty extraordinary. If Gilles can have a career like that.
