I'm back. My stream stopped when Russell has a BP. , it didn't want me to have a nervous breakdown. But he served it out, thank god.

LOL. It looks like a flashmob dedicated to WTA. 70% of WTA serves faster than Simon today. He wants to show them their real level?

Well, with a torn shoulder muscle, he's still serving faster than 30% of the WTA ppl, that's not too bad .

Wow, a great point, esp. at this late stage in the match. His shoulder may be hurting but his feet are still speedy.

Have to turn in to get enough sleep before work tomorrow - hope he can put this away quickly. Good night, all.

Russell got a code violation earlier for hitting a ball out of court, and he just got a time violation, shouldn't he loses a point?

If he hadn't choke so badly and managed to serve the third set out, he could have avoided the 5th set. Good that the 5th set is relatively quick. 4.5 hr, he won and his shoulder hasn't fall off, I guess that's not too bad.

Congrats Gilles, what a fighter! I'm so proud of him for gutting out that win.

Good luck! I was supposed to do work this evening and did nothing because I was watching the match so my alarm is now set for 3:30 because of Gilles

Re: 2012 Hardcourt all the way! let's roll into another up cycle.

Wow. It was tough to watch Gilles in this match. He has virtually no serve and it's clear he had a look of discomfort on his face. I was surprised that he couldn't even serve big even once here and there. He literally had to roll the serve in every time. If that's the case then he really shouldn't be playing this tournament and just taken the necessary time off to let the shoulder fully recover, because realistically, he has virtually no chance of advancing any further from here on out. Michael Russell is one thing, but even Karlovic and especially Fish will eat his first and second serves at those speeds alive. He will be under pressure on virtually every point and he won't be able to get away with it like he was able to against Russell. Just barely at that even against him and that's just because he is a very small and limited ability journeyman.

It was a great effort from Gilles and shows what we as fans already know about his undying heart and will to see it through, but I have to wonder at what cost and is it really even worth it. He as no chance of making it to the 4th round again this year now having seen how he has to play so he's going to lose points no matter what so why not just pull out now and give yourself some real time to recover.

I don't know. Just my feelings on the matter. Btw, I loved the turquoise aqua-ish colored shirt.
