Re: Advancing at the Australian Fair 2011!

The match was moved into centre court, where I was anyway so I saw it. Gilles and Serra both didn't play well not much to say, Ebden and Luczak seemed to combine better, whereas Gilles and Florent didn't seem to be putting the balls away and taking over the net very well. The only positive for me was how well Gilles moved in this match.
I added photos from it here:

Let's not do this

Now, i realize that losing to Santi was a big errot from Gilles. If he get past Giraldo, he was supposed to meet Becker and then Anderson, so he was close from a semifinal here.

Thanks for the pics.
Did he stay back or at the net often? I only saw him play double like 1.5 yrs ago, and he wasn't at the net as often as he should be. So I wonder...

Re: Advancing at the Australian Fair 2011!

Just noticed that Gilles and Jeremy are in the double alternate list in Sydney...

...
9 Benneteau, Julien (FRA)/Gasquet, Richard (FRA) 68
10 Erlich, Jonathan (ISR)/Ram, Andy (ISR) 68
11 (OS)
12 (OS)
13 (OS)
14 (OS)
15 (WC)
16 (WC)

ALTERNATES
1 Chela, Juan Ignacio (ARG)/Garcia-Lopez, Guillermo (ESP) 71
2 Chardy, Jeremy (FRA)/Simon, Gilles (FRA) 86
...

Anyone knows what OS means? There's no quali for double, right? I'm guessing the O is organizer...
Anyhow, it will be awesome if they get in, more net practice .

MD single comes out later today, hope he gets a good draw, although I don't know what would be considered a good draw anymore . There's no top players but pretty much everyone else in the draw is very solid. So good luck Gilles. Allez.

Re: Advancing at the Australian Fair 2011!

Gilles' quarter of the draw in Sydney

Querrey/Bye
Dolgopolov/Qualifier

Qualifier/Nieminen
Gilles/Lu

If he gets past Lu, he will get his chance to revenge his loss against Nieminen (that one loss that seemed to have haunted him much).

Gilles did the draw. There's a video at the website with a short itw at the end.

Re: Advancing at the Australian Fair 2011!

And the dream team...I mean the "dreamy" team also gets into the double draw

Jeremy/Gilles vs Knowles/Mertinak

no need to look beyond this
Allez to Gilles and Jim.
