Re: 2011 Schedule & Ranking

Apparently he won the first set 76, but lost the second 16. I'm surprised that Gillou has won 2 TB on the last days, one against ERV, and other against Arno.

Think Gilles might have won the 3rd set TB!

Re: 2011 Schedule & Ranking

Arno is losing 90% of his tie-breaks last 2 years so Gilles is lucky It was a long battle. Tomorrow Gilles plays Richard or Mika. Final is at 8pm and shown on a local tv but i'm not sure it works on web http://www.normandie-tv.fr/Open-de-C...irect_a30.html

Re: 2011 Schedule & Ranking

Gilles is also losing a lot of TBs so Arno is really unlucky!
Wish there was a stream

edit - thanks for the link, I'll try it tomorrow

Re: 2011 Schedule & Ranking

Wow! I heard that Arno was taking seriously this event, and this a good win for Gilles, specially having won 2 TB's. He has a 5-1 record since Paris-Bercy, good that he's picking some wins. Tomorrow it will be more difficult, against 2 guys he struggles playing against; Richie or Mika

Re: 2011 Schedule & Ranking

7-6 (3), 1-6, 7-6 (2).

Article about the match http://www.ouest-france.fr/ofdernmin...tent=%23sports

It was long and tough, gilles came back from a break down in the third. He says he's a bit tired with interclubs

Re: 2011 Schedule & Ranking

I'm a little confused, what sort of tournament is this, not the name but the type? Isn't the Interclub already over and his club lost? I know he's also participating that tournament that has some top spanish players next week. Are they equivalent to exho? or some pre-season warmup tournaments? and just more interclub competition? Well, anyway... Allez Gilles, hope he can somehow beat his nemesis tomorrow, maybe.

Yes, Gilles' Club lost the interclubs.

TC Paris - Villa Primrose : 0-4

Simple n°1 : Michaël Llodra (Primrose) b. Gilles Simon (TCP) 6/3, 5/7, 6/4
Simple n°2 : Jérémy Chardy (Primrose) b. Julien Benneteau (TCP) 6/4, 7/5
Simple n°3 : Steve Darcis (Primrose) b. Marc Gicquel (TCP) 4/6, 7/5, 6/3
Simple n°4 : Benoît Paire (Primrose) b. Marco Chiudinelli (TCP) 6/4, 6/4

As Primrose had won all four singles, the doubles became obsolete.

The Open de Caen is normally a tourney for lower ranked French players and even amateurs, but as it happened in the past, the French elite or part of it sometimes also takes part. This year the tournament director was particularly lucky as he got Richard, Gilles, Llodra and Clément. So it was a strange mixture of a more or less amateurish tournament, with Llodra and Clément entering at the QF stages, while Richard and Gilles only entered at SF level.

My guess is that they are at different stages of their prep season and want some match-play in between to see where they stand. So whatever the outcome, I would not take the results too seriously.

Re: 2011 Schedule & Ranking

. About the exhibition on Spain, i think it's more serious than the Open de Caen, it's more or less an Spanish national championship, with some foreigners.

About the final, he plays Richard Gasquet, who defeated Mika.

Re: 2011 Schedule & Ranking

I didn't know Chiudinelli plays interclubs, somehow it always seemed exclusively French to me, unlike the German bundesliga which has tons of foreigners.
