I'm not sure of that. He doesn't like clay et there's a full of opens during this period, so ... for his home town, what to say ? he grew up in Ile de France

Re: 2011 Schedule & Ranking

Small question about the rankings points. I was looking at Judio's thread and currently Gilles is on 1475 points. He has to get to the final here to get points, so he is defending 90 points from last year if i understand correctly. SO... if he gets to the final and gets 90 do his points go up to 1565 or stay the same? I may be over-complicating things here...

Gilles Simon
Dimitrov • Mahut • Paire • Hewitt • Raonic • Berdych • Gulbis • Murray

Thanks for the memories... Andy Roddick.

Re: 2011 Schedule & Ranking

Final is 150 pts. So if he gets to final, he adds 60 pts (150-90) to his current 1475, that will be 1535.

Re: 2011 Schedule & Ranking

It stays the same (i think) Montanes is right behind him and likely to get more points so he'll probably drop to 24

Re: 2011 Schedule & Ranking

Gilles is ranked 16th comes next monday, confirmed. Good job. Half of the season gone and I think he achieved his first goal of getting back to good seeding position for the slam. I did a very rough calculation for Wimby's ranking, googled the formula and it said:

1)ADD 100% points earned for ALL grass court tournaments in the past 12 months.
2)ADD 75% points earned for BEST grass court tournament in the 12 months before that.

So Gilles' getting pretty good bonus pts for his R3 showing in last year's Wimby plus his QF in Eastbourne, plus his 2009 R4 Wimby showing. Based on my calculation, he'll move up in the seeding chart. But of course, others will still have chances next week to grab more pts and bonus pts. But I think it's very safe to say that he will for sure be in the 9-16th blanket to avoid top 8 in R3.

Re: 2011 Schedule & Ranking

I do like your first post, it's nice to have the representation of his progress. Chuckled at the *sigh* aye you're right there! Wish the draw god would stop putting them in the same quarter!

Oh and #16 is almost better than I had hoped for him.

Re: 2011 Schedule & Ranking

I updated his schedule up to the week of Cincy. Sadly, he's not going to Washington this year. I was hoping he will go cos several ppl here attended Washington last year and gave us wonderful reports of Gilles' matches, plus we have great coverages for that tournament. However, I'm delighted that he finally comes to some senses and take two consecutive weeks off . Since he pretty much bombed out Hamburg first round every year , he can have a long rest before the very grueling US hard court season .

Re: 2011 Schedule & Ranking

I don't think I'll be able to go to Washington this year, so I'm not too disappointed.
